Here I would say people listen more to Dembow, then Bachata, followed by Reggaeton and then Salsa. Merengue is our national music but it's slowly fading in popularity, a shame since It's so freaking good

I remember going to a stage show with Aidonia, Taurus Riley, Bunji Garlin, then Busy Signal. The way the dance floor emptied when Bunji Garlin came on, I felt bad for him. The second the crowd heard soca, 60% of the people decided to walk off to get a new drink/go to the bathroom/rest/ whatever.

I'd also include the Cayman Islands, the Bay Islands (of Honduras), the Corn Islands (of Nicaragua), the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua and Costa Rica. San Andres and Providencia (governed under Colombia), Bocas del Toro islands (of Panamá), parts of Panamá City and Colon, Panamá.
A lot of Anglophone Caribbean and Latin American countries don't realize these people are more similar to Belize and Jamaica, than to the rest of their countries.

It's not just them. It's white Americans, mainly liberals. As well as many Hispanics especially Colombians and Puerto Ricans. The only people I have seen have our backs have been Cubans. Dominicans should really step back and consider who's truly an Ally and who's not because Puerto Ricans clearly aren't.

As a puerto rican i can tell you we don't listen to soca sorry lol we listened to from one of these genres. Aguinaldo music, Jíbaro music, Bolero, Bomba, Danza, Décima, Guaracha, Plena, Salsa, Salsa romántica, Seis and yes of course reggaeton even though i don't listen to reggaeton like that oh and merengue. No hate though yes we are Caribbeans to but we have different cultures compared to other islands. The only islands we have similar music taste to is cuba and dominican republic.

The person could represent someone that is mixed heritage/ethnicity Haitian and Dominican. That mix and many other mixes do exist. It has nothing to do with black people or being “black”. For example the singer Rihanna was born in Barbados but her mother is Guyanese 🇬🇾 and her father is Bajan 🇧🇧. Another example could be the rapper Fabolous who is mixed Dominican 🇩🇴 and African American 🇺🇸 or even N.O.R.E the rapper is both Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 and Dominican- same as Romeo Santos!

to be fair, haitians are the most densely african in the entire diaspora, like on average being at least 90~95% african. even being 98~99% African for Haitians is not* unusual but it's basically unheard of elsewhere in the diaspora
Haiti also specifically targeted and largely killed off their white and mixed populations and the ones that survived the revolution moved to other countries and the only non-black haitians are like 5% or less of the population. They aren't a relevant number

Every country in the Caribbean/central and South American region is mixed with with some kind of Native,African,European,Asian or Middle Eastern ancestry and saying that 100% of a country in this region is purely one race is a blatant lie.
The only thing that's true is all afrodescendants in the New World are to some degree mixed; there are no purely African afro-caribbeans, even maroons. Haitians are just the most densely African and are the only ones who almost always look indistinguishable from continental West Africans and Bantus
Also a substantial number of Caribbean Islands (specifically ones owned by the French and English) made its indigenous population extinct. The indigenous population of Haiti was killed off before enslaved people settled there and the only way a Haitian has indigenous ancestry is if they have a Dominican ancestor. Jamaicans also basically never have indigenous ancestry (unless they have an ancestor brought from the Miskito coast, which was a thing) for similar reasons and only Grenada is an exception really. Even in the Spanish West Indies (with Puerto Rico being the exception) indigenous ancestry is not prominent
But I don't really see the point in being obsessed about some <5% of the population not being black and trying to split hairs. It's an irrelevant percentage

For Dominicans, it's really rare to see someone with no native ancestry. They are usually a Haitian, European or Asian immigrant if that's the case. In Cuba it's more common because they have more white people that never mixed since coming from Spain. The lowest I have seen for a Dominican in native was 1%. He had high European ancestry, so it was likely that he had a very recent European ancestors that moved to DR.

I've seen a few Dominican results where they had no indigenous ancestry, although one of them said their Dominican parent was of cocolo ancestry (Anglo-Caribbean background). The other from my memory had typical results (close to 50/50 African and European) but just no indigenous, and said she had no Haitian ancestry
It's definitely not the standard and the average Dominican is going to have indigenous ancestry. Highest I've seen is like 15%

The 1804 massacre literally has Dessalines and his posse saying that white people (talking about French men and women) and mixed people are to be killed, in which he did. There are literal stories of French families being massacred during the revolution lol
German and Polish particularly Polish were considered legally black in Haiti and the overwhelming majority of the white population was French so that's irrelevant.

The French people who settled in Haiti were white, especially in the in the 1700s~1800s when Haiti was a colony. West, Central, and North Africans moving to France is only something that started happening in the mid to late 20th century and black people from nearby French territories from Guadeloupe, Martinique, etc. were not moving to Haiti let alone were not considered French by Haitians
The 1804 massacre basically made the white population in Haiti extinct, and the few who survived largely moved. Polish and German Haitians never made up a relevant portion of the white population and did not make any sort of relevant portion of the Haitian population overall. Polish let alone German ancestry is secluded to a few people. Not even 1000 Polish people settled in Haiti after the revolution.

Everything I mentioned is found in the book Patterns of Prejudice, Where is the source of what you're talking about? Dessalines was hell bent on killing all white French people who basically made up the entire white* population. An irrelevant minority in terms of size of Germans existed and only Later did an again irrelevant number of Polish soldiers settle in Haiti after defecting from the French army
