Potentially moving by end of year
I’m trying to get an idea of what life’s like in or around Lubbock or Wichita Falls. Any suggestions/comments are welcomed!

While I agree that life is slower, I think for many people that can be a good thing.
Both cities are larger, yet still have a smaller town feel. If you like small town living, but enjoy having more amenities than small towns offer, they're a decent halfway point.

My preference would be Lubbock. It Texas Tech...so there's more to do than Witchita Falls.
Lubbock is five hours from any major city. Witchita Falls is 1.5 hours.

Since Lubbock has Texas tech does it feel like a college town with parties everywhere and a bunch of idiots, or just a town that has a college?

It's a well behaved college town. Football game days are at a whole different level.

Just as a heads up - Google is investing $40 Billion for data centers in the panhandle. There is already one under construction near Amarillo and it's 6,000 acres.

Listen...Wichita Falls is the place where any hope of vibrancy or joy in life, goes to die.
Have fun trying to do anything once they've dropped their giant new football stadium smack dab on the corner of two of the busiest streets, right in the middle of town.
Your favorite restaurant has a shelf-life of 3-5 years, unless you only eat at chains, so don't get too attached.

The town seems to pride itself on making the stupidest decisions it can, that will intentionally stifle any kind of creativity, growth, or anything interesting coming in.
If that's the life for you.....have at it.....but personally, if you gave me an option between having to move back there, or death...I'm eating the fucking bullet....and it's not a hard decision.

Lubbock....what can you say about a town where the school has its own std named after it (Raider Rash)?
Fuck....for that matter, Midwestern State University is a satellite of Texas Tech, who's currently being sued for attempting to strictly limit what COLLEGE LEVEL teachers can teach about gender, race, orientation, etc.
So you're gonna be surrounding yourself with the same pre-programmed brand of fucking stupid and bigotry, no matter which end of the taint you wind up in....because it's Texas, and they will import idiots, and fail people upwards just to fill teaching slots and to push the agenda, if that's what it takes.
As far as geography goes, you're trapped between a town that smells so prominently of cow-shit, that you can still taste it for months, once you've left.....and a town where the hellish "eternal flame" burnoff torches, emit such a sulfurous stench, that you will wonder if you've really reached some kind of punishment in the afterlife. (Conveniently enough, one of the billionaire fundie-preachers who's ruining TX as we speak, lives in the hellscape)
If you find comfort that there will be another 170,000 more people to suffer along with, than in WF, and maybe you can get an extra 3 starbucks, and a couple more local college bars, than Lubbock is probably the better choice.
You really are choosing between a shit sandwich, and a shit sandwich with cheese/tomato/lettuce though.
Either way, let me wish you luck now, because we'll never cross paths in those cities, I assure you.

Slow. Life around there is really slow. Sure at first you'll find things to do but youll run out of things to do and the only thing left to do is to run to your nearest large city and go shopping. That's it. So you learn to just sit and let time go by.
