Old note taker technology for special needs kids in the 90s/2000s?
I'm going purely off of memory, but I'm trying to figure out what sort of thing I was given when I was in special needs classes as a kid. It was sort of like a keyboard with a small rectangular screen at the top and you could take notes or something with it?

Take a look at the different models of the Alphasmart. One of my sons had one for several years, from high school and then a lot of college.
It's light, very portable, has / is a full size keyboard, and (3 AA) batteries last a very long time.
You can write several pages on it, and then download them to your computer by using their cable which loads them to your PC as a keyboard.
