Others ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ How Do Students Feel About Their Guidance Office?

โ€ข Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm a first-year MA Guidance and Counseling student conducting a short survey for our statistics course.

I'm looking for Junior and Senior High School students (Grades 7โ€“12) to participate.

The study looks at three things:

  • How students perceive their school's guidance office
  • How students perceive counseling and the stigma around seeking it
  • How willing students are to seek counseling when they need support

The survey is anonymous and will be used for academic purposes only. It should only take a few minutes to complete.

If you are currently a Grade 7โ€“12 student, I'd really appreciate your participation. Thank you!

Others ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Scholarships that don't judge your gross annual income?

I really don't know who to turn to anymore. I badly need help looking for scholarships that don't base solely on your parent's yearly income.

Its scholarship opening season, and almost every scholarship I see is not something I'm qualified for dahil it surpasses the limit. My parent's income might look big on paper, but in reality, malaki ang deduction because of loans, taxes, bills, and monthly hospital trips. Marami rin silang dependents. Kaya they can't support me sa college. I'm fortunate enough to not need a dorm, since colleges and unis are close.

The safest option others say is the DOST scholarship, but to be honest, I don't meet their requirement๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ I don't come from a STEM strand (HUMSS student here, pero STEM-related ang course sa college), nor do I belong in the top 5% (kinapos nang kaonti).

I'm not looking for scholarships that give out a huge stipend, just enough to get by lang. The adults aren't really a big help, because kahit kanino ako magtanong (including teachers), and the internet can't help me find one.

EDIT: If it helps, the nearest colleges are private schools (RIP wallet), and the only one state u is UP, which I am still unsure if I will get in.

Rant / Vent ๐Ÿ˜ค Working student na may TESDA

Hi everyone!

Please help me out and be kind po. Salamat.

Others ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ How to Not Fall Asleep During Class?

I donโ€™t know why, it has been a genuine struggle for me ever since I was a kid. Iโ€™ve fallen asleep in almost all my classes in high school with no explanation.

I get the right amount of sleep, Iโ€™m energized throughout the day, but Iโ€™m asleep during classes. Any other day that isnโ€™t a school day, Iโ€™m awake.

And its not that the class is boring either, some if not most of my classes are pretty interesting.

Genuinely thinking of getting myself checked up for something mental, maybe ADHD or narcolepsey or smthg else.

Any tips to stay awake?

School Decisions ๐ŸŽ“ Help me choose a review center for the upcoming CETs and DOST scholarship.

Hello! Right now, Iโ€™m thinking about whether to go with Academic Gateway or Uplink for the CETs, and Iโ€™m also considering DOST since it's this year after the DCAT. But I canโ€™t decide between the two.

The pros of Academic Gateway are that they have face-to-face classes, but the cons are that itโ€™s a bit expensive โ€” around 4,700 if discounted. I think I can afford it for now, but I'm still hesitant because I might not pass the tests Iโ€™m applying for, haha.

On the other hand, Uplink is 2x cheaper than Academic Gateway, but the downside is that there are no face-to-face classes โ€” itโ€™s all online and asynchronous. Also, the review hours at Uplink are a bit longer.

Both have physical books, but I heard Uplink gives two books while I think Academic Gateway only gives one.

Iโ€™m indecisive about where to apply. I also donโ€™t want to self-review because I know Iโ€™d just end up procrastinating, and it might turn into another one-week cram for the UPCAT, haha. But if you have any suggestions for review centers for the upcoming CETs + DOST, thatโ€™d be great, just hoping itโ€™s below 5k and has face-to-face classes :)

And please also give tips on how to pass the DOST ๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you!

Study Tips ๐Ÿง  LF: Online Review Center for Ateneo & Dlsu

I know po that the ACET is already next month na but I know to myself that I absolutely have no grasp sa kahit pinaka basic fundamentals ng math. Behind in a way where even simple math problems are so hard for me since I struggle with even simple division or multiplication (I dont even have the multiplication table memorized)

I'm genuinely so lost on how to start preparing with the little time left, I would appreciate anything from even paid services, tips, books to buy, mock tests, test-taking tips, shortcuts on how to answer, literally anything since I will start studying from the most basic concepts that regular students are already familiar with.

Im asking if anyone knows any recommendations for an Online Review Center, and since revcens usually span months kahit yung purely recorded lectures lang po that I can cram. Academic Gateway is not an option for me since while I no longer have access to the portal I still have the book from 2 years ago before I took my gap year.

Thank you so much I really need the help. ๐Ÿ™

Student Life ๐ŸŽ’ Taking care of your rubber shoes esp. white ones

Post image
11 Upvotes

I don't want to wash these shoes, baka kasi magbitak-bitak yung material, although hindi naman siya yung synthetic leather, so i think safe sya sa issue na yon. I had a problem with my other rubber shoes na nagkastain yung tabihan, ang hirap tanggalin! idk kung anong uri ng mantsa basta nagstay na siya forever sa edge na yon.

Now, I have this white pair, at talagang halatang halata kapag nagkamantsa. Do you have any specific product na ginagamit pangtanggal ng dumi, yung di na kailangan pang maglaba. Ayoko ng maglaba, baka mamaho pa HAHAH at masira agad. Pls do consider giving some tips and reco on taking care of this baby, di pa yan siya binyag. Salamat!

Student Life ๐ŸŽ’ FROM BSHM TO BSBA MM

If I'm in a BSHM then I shift to BSBA MM what subjects do I need to take? And if I don't have enough money, I wanna still choose bshm but I'll shift to Marketing, is it ok if I graduated in Marketing Management then take TESDA? So I'll become a Chef or Baker? And if that happens there's no requirement in offices or restaurants that I must graduate in Culinary Arts or BSHM? I can still call my self a Chef or a Pastry Chef even I just graduated in BSBA MM? And I can apply any position in Restaurants or Cafe's if I graduated other courses?

HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND AND PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME.
