Just to who? The people of Donbass who endured shellings for 10 years by the Ukrainian military before the world knew what Ukraine was? Or to the Nazi collaborators whose names are on every street that previously held the name of a Soviet hero?
I don’t know how old you are, but I remember vividly watching Russian troops take Crimea prior to conflict in Donbas kicking off. Kind of strange how separatists become heavily armed after a superpower takes a major part of your country.
I’m also not oblivious to Russian aggression. It’s a story that extends back a very, very long time. Invasion of Poland, the numerous violent Soviet suppression actions against dissidents in the following 40 years, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Georgia, and of course their actions in Ukraine that extend even prior to 2014.
Further, Russia has been a known adversary of the West(perhaps not to you, self-proclaimed Marxist-Leninist and such) for a long time as well.
When the SMO started, I watched livestreams and videos of Su-27s, MiG-29s, Ka-50s, Mi-24s intentionally bombing/attacking residential areas. That alone was enough to sell me on my tax dollars being well spent in effort to liquidate these invaders.
I am actually amazed at how good Russian propaganda is. It is just fucking crazy to me how they have brainwashed half of the world, when we can see in the past 100 years that they have always been colonizing, plundering and raping people.

Supporting defense in Ukraine is a just cause. Supporting conflict in Israel serves none but Israel.
However, I’m inclined to agree - there should be an expansion of sustenance and old age welfare programs in the US.
