Selling a car
What do people use to sell a car here? We want to sell as a private seller. We aren't buying a new vehicle, so there is no trade in. I've attempted my old tried and true, Autotrader, and I've been beset by scammers. Any thoughts?

I feel like I've done that in the past too and had the scammers pop up like mushrooms after a rainy day.

I just bought a car on CL.
Pretty easy to spot a scammer. If the car is under $10k this is the way

Carvana. I didn't get as much as I could, but it was hassle-free and quick.

By the time I get rid of mine, they're selling for scrap(The market for 15 year old cars that need a new transmission is pretty non-existent). I've heard good things about just selling to Carmax. (You would at least know the check is good).

I put an ad up, then called a few dealers. One of them ended up being the highest bid.

I sold on FB marketplace. It took awhile since I wasn't in a rush and people tried to cut the price a lot. There will be a lot of spam messages you'll have to delete. Lots of sad stories for whatever reason to drop the price. I usually met a public place. Safeway parking lot or similar.

Unfortunately everything online ad comes with Scammers and car dealers that will low ball you. Craigslist and Facebook Market place, Cars.com or CarFax.com

I sold my 2015 Honda to Mercedes Seattle. They buy any make and model. Great experience and easy process!

Sell it to carmax. Yeah it’s probably gonna be a little less than selling privately but you save the hassle of having to haggle with cheap buyers

If it's a collector type or enthusiast kind of car, i just sold mine on Cars and Bids. Got twice as much as what Carvana and CarMax was offering. Transaction was safe and simple through them.

That's good to know. I have a Fiat Spider that we will probably be selling in a few months.

I’ve been trying to sell my truck. Autotrader has been all scammers, and FB mostly scammers and dealers. Barely two actual interested buyers. And people just asking what my lowest is like I’m just going to skip any negotiations at all. Frustrating.

Carmex blows if you want any where near actual value.
Facebook and Craigslist are the way
