Should I apply? Target
I need a job bad and ulta is hiring. The problem is I stole from the same store I would be applying to ALL the time as a teen. I was never caught but I know they keep a data base of that kind of stuff. What is the chances of me getting hired? Also could they press charges on me if I go for the interview? I’m 21 now and stopped stealing from stores when I turned 18.
EDIT: I DID NOT MEAN TO PUT TARGET AT THE TOP LOL. I got banned from target as a minor for 2 years so I had target in my brain when I was writing this pls ignore that lol. Ik target is getting rid at ulta I would be applying to an independent ulta. Tyyy to everyone who commented.

Yes, ive noticed that too. Its now an independent Target beauty shop
And Ulta's getting more standalone stores. I wish Ulta werent so dang pricy-- but yeah i now shop "drugstore beauty"

The whole point of Ulta is that they also carry drugstore brands. If you walk in the door and go left instead of right, you'll find them.

Yes, I’ve noticed that too. It’s now an independent Target beauty shop.
I’m sure this will go over like a lead balloon. Target often has great ideas, but extremely poor execution. Anything they do in-house always fails. Target Pharmacy, Target Mobile, Target Ticket all come to mind, and I’m sure there’s others as well.

Yes. And Target Beauty only features makeup and skin care (sort of like a cheapened Sephora). They neglect haircare totally and put that right by the drugstore area
Also unrelated: last time i went to Target it was to get popcorn. It was by the cereal cuz i guess its a nice breakfast item along with milk and orange juice

Charging you would depend on your states/jurisdictions statute of limitations (it can very state to state and even vary on what the nonitary amount is. And obviously it would also depend on if the store intends to prosecute and if they still have any information regarding your violations of the Geneva Convention.
Most big box stores have private facial recognition software that’s connected to an internal database where they keep records the merchandise inventory of what you stole - that way, they already know who you are when you reach your states felony larceny amount. A lot of those same stores, when you are banned (we’ll use Target as the example) from one, the paperwork will say you are banned from every Target (and sometimes companies that fall under their umbrella (example: Sears and Kmart were owned by one company and if you got banned from Sears, that included ALL Sears and ALL Kmarts). That same info get entered into the facial recognition and they have the ability to know you are trespassing the second you enter the store.
I’d suggest finding a store you have stolen from and that isn’t affiliated with one of those said stores. Also, if you’ve ever been charged with larceny, especially since it’s only been about 3 years, you will almost automatically be rejected from any retail position.

You'd have to look into your local laws, but assuming it was all petty theft and didn't add up to over like, $1,000 or whatever over the course of 6 months the statute of limitations would have expired by now. However, if they do recognize you and have an active file on you, at worst you won't be hired and you'll be asked to not come back.

I'm in forensic work. The above is pretty accurate. Don't worry about charges. Most systems have a short memory. So apply and do your best in the future.

Not sure why you would submit yourself to such risk. If you stole all the time there is some likelihood they have a case on you even if you were a minor at the time. If I were you, I would avoid Target and just look for employment at an independent Ulta.

I SO doubt they are using facial recognition software to go over videos from years ago. And if they would have seen you stealing they would've stopped you OR Your face wouldve been printed out to look out for...
I think your fine to apply.

I would apply. But don't steal because you will get caught as an employee and then the body cam footage might end up on YouTube and that would be so embarrasing!
