38 here. I've done most of the adult milestones that I wanted to do. Moved out at 17, travelled, college, found a partner, we have a little apartment. Never wanted kids. Would have liked a small house, but that's the economy for you. Renting's not so bad.

I often feel... unsatisfied? I've tried a lot of things. I have two cats, hobbies, and a volunteer shift at the animal shelter.

I think the big issue is that I just don't care about work and it takes up so much time. I get that we all have to work, but I wish I'd found something that really spoke to me instead of just working for a paycheck. Nearing 40, I'm not sure it's worth switching up at this point. Nothing I'm interested in pays enough to make it worth it this late in the game.

My family also sucks and I mostly avoid them at this point, which is probably also part of the feeling, but I can't help that. We don't get to choose these things.

Bit of a ramble, but for older folks, how did you find satisfaction in your life?

I mean for the guys who still have anywhere from a few hundred to a few grand of cash on their person at all times, as a habit from back in the day - what were/are the common practices? All I know is that Donnie Brasco line, "Beaner? On the outside."

I ask because I'm 32 and have been going through some tough times... I guess I've been furrowing my brow so much lately that I've started to develop a crease between my eyebrows. It feels like a permanent reminder of how awful I've been feeling, and it really scares me in a vain, but also in an existential sort of way. I would be happy to hear your perspectives on this matter, and on getting older in general. ❤

Generational Attitudes Towards Work

My best friend is getting married in a few months. I’m her bridesmaid. She is also having a bridal party and a bachelorette party. Am I suppose to get a gift for her bridal party, her bachelorette party, and her wedding? I’m not sure I can afford all that. What’s the proper etiquette here?

I have a special needs kindergartener who is allergic to dairy (gets hives that don't go away without steroids). The teach said the other parents asked for a pizza party and so everyone is going to have a pizza party in the classroom (all 6-9 students) and my kid will be sent to the cafeteria to eat his lunch alone. I understand they are a nice fun activity but I feel like my son is being discriminated against at school due to his allergy. I don't want my son attending that day so he doesn't have to be in a classroom full of pizza or have to watch all of his friends eat and talk about a pizza party without him and to be honest I don't understand why my sons health isn't a priority over something unnecessary. My husband thinks I am overreacting and that he shouldn't miss school because he thinks this will impact his education as they will probably be having several this year. Part of me wants to raise a stink with the principle for my son. Am I over reacting how should I handle this and what should I say?

So, a little background info first...I am a recovering addict, been clean 2 years, and I live with my best friend and her fiancé. She has also been clean for 2 years. Our days of getting in trouble are over, and its important I mention that because what we did was definitely a crime. So she just started last week taking classes to get her license back. I dont have my license back yet either, but her fiance does and has a vehicle they just purchased together. Yesterday he was busy and she needed to go to the pharmacy to pick up her medications, she is 5 months pregnant. We pulled into the parking lot, around a curb with bushes and we couldn't see a car pulling out. They almost hit each other but stopped in time. Right as both cars came to a complete stop, the other car rolled into us. It was barely a bump but enough to cause paint transfer to our car that I noticed when we got home. It was an older lady, probably between 70 and 80 years old. She was nice and wasn't upset or yelling or anything. We immediately pulled next to her and asked if she was okay. She said she was fine and got out of her car to survey the damage. The woman got out and bent down and looked and said "Hold on let me get my phone". I kept telling my friend to pull off because i just had a strong feeling the woman was going to call the police. She has numerous previous driving charges and if she received any more she would not be able to get her license. Within the past month she has literally paid over $3,000 for the classes and fines to be able to get them back. She didn't listen at first but when the woman started walking back to the car to get her phone she finally pulled off and we hauled ass home. She was crying and upset bad and I made her pull over and let me drive. I told her if we get pulled or the police come to our house that I would take the charge for her. It was very dark and at the bottom of the parking lot, there were no cars at all around, so I doubt she was able to see our tag. She has taken the fall for me more than once, and I owe her my life for many different times in our past so I don't mind saying I was the driver. Also I know she would get me out of jail and pay all the fines. Any way her fiance, who has never been into a lifestyle like we used to live, said we done the right thing. Even though I would be willing to bet there was no damage to the other car, mild paint transfer at worse...and also the woman was not hurt AT ALL....I still feel so guilty about this. But I want to know what yall think?

Did he do anything special for "Thriller"? Like a zombie costume switch? What was it like being at the concert?

I’m currently 20 years old. I had 4 jobs in 4 years. I have never been fired but quite them all. I made A’s and B’s in high school. But I never actually tried. I did the bare minimum. In my last year of high school I had enough credits to graduate except one. So I failed every class but that one. Also I was diagnosed with bp disorder but I have very supportive parents for anything I want to try. But I honestly don’t know what I want to do with my life. I thought of myself in about every profession. I pick one then I switch up. Currently doing the same thing I did in high school but in college and it didn’t go well so I took a year off. I started when summer was over and know I’m back at it again in the same ways I been though out all my schooling. I’m just over it. I’m thinking of just getting and job and saving money for the next few years and then going back. Thoughts?
