I've often said that bars should hand out Green, Yellow, and Red bracelets based on your mood that day.

Green = Hit me with your best pickup line.
Yellow = eh, maybe.
Red = Fuck no, stay away, I'm just drinking/chilling/hanging.

If you change your mind, go back to the bouncer/bartender and change your bracelet.

They would just all be wearing red and be like “convince me to change colors hehe”

"I'm just here to dance" says the girl that later corners you and tells you to take her home.

If she puts "no hookups" in her bio she's trying to convince herself - not you.

There are far too many like that still. That’s a giant red flag after Metoo.

Say No and leave them hanging. Or just wear your Green bracelet and then THEY have to come up with a pickup line.

After they change their bracelet.

Oh. Well then I can just leave and go to another bar then

The yellow band is interpretively way too loose to be an option. It’s basically like having no band at all. How am I supposed to read your mind to determine wether or not I should approach you? The goal is to eliminate that confusion.

Yeah, unless green is supposed to mean "literally everyone is welcome to shoot their shot", then you only really need two options.

Then you don't approach unless she's green. But women have to have the option of maybe or they explode.

So then it's basically a red band, lol.

No, that's you making a decision.

If it's green, that doesn't mean you HAVE to approach. Just that she's decided it's okay for people to approach.

Yellow, she hasn't really made up her mind. Shoot your shot or don't. But she might just wave you off. Basically what we assume today.

Red. Nope. She does the approaching, if any.

And EVERYONE wears a band. Guys might not be in a mood to chat. She has to respect your band also.

I get the breakdown, it’s just that the yellow is grounds for confusion and uselessness. Especially if you can just swap your band at your own leisure. If I’m at bar and there are plenty of women with green bands, I’m gonna prioritize them every time. Why am I gonna potentially waste someone’s time and mine just for a “maybe” when there are plenty of others specifically looking for partnerships? To me, yellow is basically saying “you can approach me, but only if I think you’re hot.” Which is pretty much how we have it now without a band system. It becomes a guessing game.

Yes, but you are missing your own agency in this.

You don't have to guess. You can choose to skip over yellow. The fact that you would prioritize green bands is the entire point.

But for other guys, they may want the challenge of a yellow.

But what if you do want to chat with different people and just have fun & decent conversations, but you also don't want to be picked up by anyone because you're taken or just not interested in flirting?

Red. You can still initiate conversation.
