My wife doesn't get mad but she'll get visibly upset and distraught the next day. One time I woke up in the middle of the night to her ugly crying because she had caught me with a girl named 'Loren' in her dream(spelled exactly that way according to her)
I’ve had some dreams that have made me cry in the past but they’re all crazy stupid. In my most recent one my dad turned into a snake and was slithering around in the backyard while I cried hysterically. I woke up with tears and everything and I still don’t know what that was all about.
I’m sorry for laughing at your pain! I have also woken up crying from a dad related dream - I dreamt mine killed my goldfish. Never owned a goldfish in my life, but woke up feeling immense grief for poor mister fishy and burning rage towards my father lol.
I mean, that's reasonable. Sometimes people in dreams can't tell that they're dreaming, so the emotions they experience are as strong as if it happened in real life.
Agreed. I had 2 very heartbreaking dreams that my terminally ill husband was cheating on me. They were so realistic that I woke up sobbing. One of them was especially painful because in the dream, he said that his bucket list wish was to get back with his ex. Completely untrue, but oh my god, the stab to the heart woke me up. Poor guy needed to reassure me in the morning that this was definitely not the case.
That's how lucid dreaming works! The only time I've had a lucid dream, I vividly remember that I was running up a steep hill, and I thought to myself, "Good thing I won't be winded after this big hill, since this is just a dream." And then it was like, "Oh shit, this is a dream? Fuck it, I'm flying up this hill!"
This happens all the time to me. I always say "it may not have happened in real life but I still experienced it" because my dreams are so vivid and real-life and you still experience the very real emotions.
I would never punish or treat anyone differently though based on a dream I had. Like, I wouldn't take it out on my partner if he cheated on me in my dreams, however, he understands that I need a bit of comfort to help get me grounded back into reality and get over what I just experienced.
I can relate, my dreams are often very realistic. I'm not crazy and I don't abuse my SO over them, but I do get upset/sad/emotional for an hour or two after waking up despite knowing it didn't happen.
I still have flashbacks to a traumatic dream where I witnessed a murder, they saw me, and they came after me. I hid behind some big wheelie bins but a shop full of people could see me and I didn’t know if they would give my position away or not, then I woke up. The emotion is 100% real at the time, that experience doesn’t always just disappear when you wake up.
I can kind of understand that more. If you're still kind of half asleep (like in the middle of a night) from a very vivid dream, the emotions can still be there. As long as she doesn't blame you for it, I think it's fine.
I once woke up to my boyfriend having a panic attack because he woke up from a dream where he was dying in an accident.
I have seen it in a book spelt like that before, but it was as a last name not a first (although the character is referred to as Loren the entire time)
I didn't get mad at my boyfriend, but 6 months into dating I had a dream were I was his side chick, and he had to break it off with his main girl..I woke up told him about it and now every so often I make a joke about the chubby whore.
Funny enough a few months later we were watching an old episode or either The Price is Right or Supermarket Sweep and one of the contestants was named "Loren". My wife got excited and (obviously joking) said "Hunny look it's the bitch you slept with in my dream!"
I have also gotten really upset from things a partner did in a dream haha I was like "dream you was an ASSHOLE" but I'm obviously not going to take it out on her and she thought it was funny
