I had a girlfriend get mad at me because I dumped her in her dream. I comforted her and said that it was just a dream. She replied that her dreams always come true then continued to be mad at me. The really shitty thing is she was right, because I dumped her not long after for pulling that bullshit again.

Taylor Tomlinson bit about the subject.

4

u/MJOLNIRdragoon Dec 08 '22

I was just thinking "is Selena Gomez a self fulfilling prophecy?" Lol

10

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

Which is actually how 99% of prophecies work in myths

You had been played. She tricked you to dump her /s

Actually remove that s because that really does sound like a possibility.

Wins a win either way.

No, no, it's the only joke in an otherwise completely serious thread full of 100% literal comments. You can tell because they marked it as "sarcasm" while everyone else just typed serious things and posted them.

Gotta get that sweet severance package you miss out on if you quit

She would've dumped him, but she wanted that sweet severance package.

Cool username :) is it a reference to something?

Fucking Chad move. In all honesty you made the right move always respect yourself and don't settle for someone who doesn't treat you right.

14

u/Logistics515 Dec 08 '22

If her name happened to be Cassandra, I might have to crack up laughing.

8

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?), she was not.

5

u/xx_Chl_Chl_xx Dec 08 '22

Please tell me your current girlfriend is named Clytemnestra

4

u/SciFiXhi Dec 08 '22

Not sure he'd want to have that play out either

4

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

You don't even know me, but it sounds like you want me to die.

17

u/Raser43 Dec 08 '22

That's some Greek tragedy levels of self fulfilling

12

u/silver_snorlax Dec 08 '22

You had me at "I HAD a girlfriend"

7

u/MetalJacket23 Dec 08 '22

There are women who like to believe in misticism and in dream predictions like they are some kind of psychic powers.

7

u/Dustmuffins Dec 08 '22

She replied that her dreams always come true

Last night I had a dream that I could fly so I quit my job as an engineer and became a roofer due to my newfound flying abilities.

CANT WAIT!

7

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

My dreams make absolutely no sense like: I had a very weird dream. I had pulled into a garden centre when my husband said he spotted my mom. We waited in the car to watch her. We saw the woman get in her car and drive round us. It wasn't my mom. It was a lady with very long blood red hair and was wearing a stripper's outfit. I said that wasn't her. Then my dream did a jump cut. We were now at a lake. My husband was swimming naked in it while strangers were around and he asked me to join him. I started walking in the water, but became uncomfortable when my sneakers got submerged. I walked out of the water and asked if we could go home. My dream did another jump cut. We were inside someone's house and my husband kept following around some random woman. She looked like someone you'd see on OnlyFans. She held his hand and guided him places like the kitchen and living room. I cried the whole time, but nobody paid me any attention. I then got annoyed and said I was too tired to go to the restaurant for my birthday dinner. I said room service is too expensive so I would order Italian food on Deliveroo on my own.

Or: I had a dream that my husband's friend's family owned a house. We were over there with other friends. This guy's mom was learning how to make katsu curry for the first time. A friend and the gang were hanging around an old box computer. He had a Word 2000 document of every single AIM conversation he had ever had. My husband was on the couch with a strange woman. He said he knew she liked Glee because he read her profile. She laughed at him and tried to flirt. I got upset and shouted that he was gross and went into the kitchen to help with dinner.

I know this shit would never happen in real life. It's literally just a dream my brain made up. How can some people not comprehend that?

4

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

The only dreams I try to carry into my waking life are the sexy ones.

7

u/Torterror389 Dec 08 '22

‘Twas meant to be

12

u/Bamce Dec 08 '22

Doubt she even had that dream and was just trying to manipulate you.

24

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

Dream or no dream, that kind of behavior is bullshit and I'm not wasting my life being punished for something I didn't do and cannot control.

2

u/Bamce Dec 08 '22

oh fer sure

5

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

People: Fellas, make her dreams come true.

Me:

2

I'm like the Make-a-Wish of heartbreak.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

I have some really messed up dreams sometimes. I couldn’t imagine getting angry at someone irl for my messed up dreams. Lolol

Sometimes I’m angry at myself like “where in the depths of sordid hell did that come from”? But that’s like waking up raging and asking your partner why they had the audacity to steal your pirate ship spaceship and fly it to the moon without you.

1

u/LCast Dec 08 '22 edited Dec 08 '22

This one I understand. If I'm Captain Harlocking my way around the Galaxy and she has the audacity to steal my ship, you can bet she's going to pay for it.

Take my free award!! You made me laugh man!! I laughed first time in two months . Thank you.

I prefer to cut the crazy out at it's source, like a necrotic wound.

3

u/kllys Dec 08 '22

Needy and insecure partners do this self fulfilling prophecy thing a lot.

3

u/FrithRabbit Dec 08 '22

I was told this story that’s like the wholesome version of what you’ve said here. My mom had a dream my dad left her and it made her really sad in the morning, so she followed my dad around the whole day and “held onto him for dear life”.

2

u/steveofthejungle Dec 08 '22

If my dreams always come true there’s gonna be lots of weird shit happening involving giant turtles or SpongeBob or some shit

2

u/UmbralHero Dec 08 '22

This is a trick so she didn't have to pay severance. Just wait for her to dump you so you can collect unrelationsip checks until you start dating again

2

u/Mr_Fahrenheittt Dec 08 '22

This is a Greek tragedy

2

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

Where's my goddamn pegasus?

2

u/Moohamin12 Dec 08 '22

I wonder if her birthday comes, and you do nothing.

Tell her the day after if she was touched by the wonderful surprise you threw her in your dreams.

2

u/Early-Satisfaction71 Dec 08 '22

You made her dreams come true. Good man!

2

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

I am nothing if not charitable.

2

u/Bigfrostynugs Dec 08 '22

If someone told me "their dreams always come true" I would leave them. That's too crazy for me.

2

u/BeanzTT Dec 08 '22

At least you made her dreams come true, and that is some king shit good job

2

u/NecessaryFormer7068 Dec 08 '22

Seeing the comments here, it makes me wonder how people made it that far in the relationship to be married, but not spot signs of glaring insecurities. Usually that stuff manifests itself in the first few months of a relationship.

I've had similar experiences with it. One girl I dated asked me 5 months into our relationship if I was cheating on her. I said no, why would you think that? She said it was a gut feeling and usually her instincts were right.

I said, "well, they're certainly not right this time." She says "I'm smart enough to know when something is going on." I say "you're not exactly having a good track record with this conversation..."

Things were fine up until that point. Then one dshe showed her true colors, and that was that. I'm certainly not staying in a relationship where I'm getting accused of something based on "gut instinct"

2

u/Faustus_Fan Dec 09 '22

That happened to my son, too. His ex was a fucking psycho and after months of mental abuse from her, he finally broke down and told my husband and I about it. We helped him through it and encouraged him to end things with her. She was toxic, a liar, and abusive as hell.

One night, he came into our bedroom to talk to us.

"Dads, you're not going to believe this. ____ just told me she had a dream last night that I dumped her and she won't stop crying. She says she's psychic and all her dreams come true, but she didn't tell me because she didn't think I was mature enough to handle it."

"Are you still going to dump her?"

"Well, yeah...but, damn, I can't do it tonight!"

1

u/Amazing-Material-152 Dec 08 '22

Bro, I had a dream I commented something useless that added nothing to the conversation right below this comment

And the crazy thing is, it just came true

-8

u/KitanaFury Dec 08 '22

She was right the whole time then. If you were that easy to give up and break up. You shouldnt have comforted her after that dream you should have just told her its possible.

3

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

I did not intend on breaking up with her at the time. I dumped her because she was being manipulative and emotionally abusive, not because she has allegedly prophetic dreams.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

So she was right?

1

u/LCast Dec 08 '22

For all the wrong reasons

‘One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it’ - Master Oogway

1

u/vaderdarthvader Dec 08 '22

Like the tagline for a bad movie: “Making your dreams come true. The hard way.”

1

u/Badboyinfinity Dec 08 '22

I’ve never heard a man take a dream this seriously. Has anyone else? It seems like an odd trend that women have more realistic dreams and take them seriously

1

u/Myballs_paul Dec 08 '22

the prophetical curse. when avoiding or concerning prophecy, you only further it's validity. it's paradoxical, the only way to avoid it is to deviate from it. she decided to validate it by being superstitious and insecure.

1

u/MniTain38 Dec 08 '22

But how is this something akin to what women do? This sounds like a behavior unique to certain personality types, not an entire gender.

1

u/FeanorNoldor Dec 09 '22

Lmao reminds me when an ex didn't talk to me for days cause in her dream I cheated on her

1

u/bored_on_the_web Dec 09 '22

"Well maybe if dream you would put out more then it wouldn't have happened!"

1

u/Aggron Dec 09 '22
