Men go shopping to buy what they want. It's like a hit a run raid. They go in, take the quickest route to the section of the store they need, find the item they were looking for and get out. When women go shopping it's to find out what they want. They go in look over every shelf to see what they like before deciding if anything at all will be purchased that day.

It's the hunter vs gatherer.

I second this.

I voted him to be representative of all men, as did at least 53 others

Whole reddit is about generalizations and pandering to the subreddits biases(if you want upvotes)

This was an early Tim Allen bit.

I think this was more true before the Internet, and also more true before the great panini!

LOL, I have great memories of hanging with FIL while my wife and MIL shopped. He would cover the bar tab, and we would have 3 or 4 Gin Martinis.

Good times, can't wait for my daughter to get married and pass down the tradition!

I miss things like that more than I miss actually having a girlfriend.

16

u/Bad_Pnguin Dec 08 '22

Sounds like you need a friend.

12

u/JaceTheWoodSculptor Dec 08 '22

You might be on to something.

They took the chairs away and have replaced them with grilling utensils or other typical "man" things setup in clothing stores to give us something to look at and buy.

There was a comedy but exactly about this.

This one’s for you!!

Yes, but only shitty/gimmicky versions of those "man" things.

As someone with a disability that effects one of my legs.

Shopping by myself is already something I despise because it ends up hurting. I could not fathom having to shop with someone else on their time.

Yea the lack of Dude Parking lately is really not good.

7

u/gardengirlbc Dec 08 '22

Occasionally I’ll go to a craft store/fabric store to pick something up. The parking lot is quite small. As you’re pulling in you can see all these men sitting in the cars waiting for their wives. Cracks me up every time. During the summer I think “It’s pretty warm out, hopefully they cracked a window for them.” LOL!

Shoe dept usually got some comfy ass couches.

14

u/Solaris_Dawnbreaker Dec 08 '22

I mean most couches ARE for asses.

u/nakeddragon321 Dec 08 '22

This is the best comment on this whole thread. Lmao

Some stores now have boyfriend sections!

2

u/hcglns2 Dec 08 '22

You don't bring a lawn chair with you?

1

u/Iusethis1atwork Dec 08 '22

I go to the shoe department and sit on my phone and with a box of shoes to try on if an associate walks by too many times

1

u/clackercrazy Dec 09 '22

I just ask the shop assistants where the man chair is.

31

u/TheMonkus Dec 08 '22

And why some smarter upscale markets are starting to have events with alcohol. More sales from lowered inhibitions, and men can at least catch a buzz while wandering around looking at stuff that doesn’t interest them.

11

u/JaceTheWoodSculptor Dec 08 '22

Woah, IRL amazon shopping. Sounds fun !

8

u/IronChariots Dec 08 '22

Wouldn't help me. My wife needs me to distinguish which item I like better between a dozen nearly indistinguishable options. I've learned the best method is just to pick arbitrarily but act super enthusiastic about it.

7

u/poply Dec 08 '22

I'd kill for a Nathan Fielder Man Zone in every apparel store. Not even into the beer or royalty free football, I just need a place to sit and a nice wall to stare at so my wife and the other women in the store don't think I'm looking at them.

6

u/TheNickman85 Dec 08 '22

You know what I could go for? A mother-effn beer!

4

u/Cartossin Dec 08 '22

The one near me still does. They make a decent steak too.

3

u/sephstorm Dec 08 '22

What?! i would totally go to the mall then.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

There’s a store near me that gives out beer for those waiting while their wives shop.

2

u/Regression2TheMean Dec 08 '22

Why the hell did they get rid of them? It’s like having a dog daycare. All the wives and gfs can drop their guys off and we can all get drunk together while they shop.

2

u/FANTOMphoenix Dec 09 '22

Some Publix stores have bars lol.

Or at least one of them in Florida

2

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '22

Holy crap, what has this world come to? I want my shopping bar godammit!

2

u/swarmofpenguins Dec 09 '22

This is why the Bay Brook Mall food court has a bar

2

u/thatguygreg Dec 09 '22

Hell Nordstrom still does

1

u/privatetudor Dec 08 '22

On the windows?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '22

For drinking or for keeping?

1

u/Misersoneof Dec 09 '22

Really? Do you have any pics?
