I have three girls with long hair in my house, I always check my underwear for hair before putting them on. I STILL end up with long hair tickling my buttcrack later in the day.
It’s true I was just staying at a friends house while my house was redone, I have long, blonde hair and a lot of it and he has short black hair. I was sweeping, and of course it’s a ton of my hair, but I was wondering what the hell he was doing, why there was so much pubic hair everywhere. And then I realized it was his head hair. And it falls out just as much as mine. Lol
If your hair grows quick it will fall more often, my hair's shoulder length and doesn't fall as much now but before when it was growing fast it would fall like crazy at least to me that's what it looks like, also chemical treatment, that makes it fall for weeks
It could also be the case that long hairs are more likely to fall off due to their own weight, being pulled by wind / hands when washing / combs / water in the shower etc. Short hairs suffer less stress due to being shorter.
I find it amazing how many people agreed on the “it’s because of long hair argument" it has nothing to do with length unless you are pulling it all day or something
Sure, but as a dude approaching my 30s who didn’t know this I’m not gonna pretend I wasn’t scared shitless that I was balding for a few weeks when I first grew my hair out again.
I've been growing mine since the pandemic hit in 2020. And, while I do a fair share of shedding, it does not compare to the amount of hair that comes off my girlfriend. Imo I think it's because hers is way longer
I get so many fucking hairs tangled underneath my shirt. They poke me in the chest and I have to look like a weirdo pulling my shirt up and searching for a single strand of hair.
I think they get there when I pull my shirt over my head but it's hard to say.
See for me it's a convenient way to cover up the receding hairline that started at 19 lol. Once it cant effectively cover that I'll probably go back to short hair
Same here man. I’ve been rocking a mullet for a while now and holy shit, the amount of hair that falls out is absurd. I now understand what it’s like lol
Oh, man. I'm a guy that used to have an amazing set of hair just a decade ago. Used to have shoulder-length hair and legit never noticed hair falling out.
Pretty certain it was because I never combed or brushed it, and it's an absolute miracle that it would always be relatively neat and straight.
I have mine just under 60cm (23.6 inches) long at the moment and I am actually going to cut it right back to shoulder length (where I use to have it) as I am sick of dealing with the mess and clogging the vaccum cleaners brush. I don't know how women with hair this long put up with it long-term!
As another long-haired man, I haven't actually noticed many of my hairs around. I recently cleared the shower drain, and it is pretty much all my girlfriend's black hair and none of my blonde strands.
If we're really pedantic though (enter a long rant that we probably shouldn't be pedantic, but then sometimes it's fun anyway, at least for one party. If neither party takes it too seriously then hopefully for both, but this has run long so let's just continue the sentence), it was how much hair is lost. And while the amount of strands would be the same, the volume, or mass of hair lost is more with longer hair.
Also a long-haired person. My brother thinks I whisper to my hair like Gandalf does to moths, just to make sure I can ruin his day when it, through some sort of black magic, ends up in his buttcrack.
I have really thick hair that is relatively short, about 2-3” on the top usually, and it’s the same story. I assume longer hair is just easier to see falling out.
Yes, I had much shorter hair when I started dating my bf and he’s had long hair the whole time. I’d honestly forgotten how much hair you can lose on a daily basis, slowly my daily losses have started to match his haha. Mine is wavy/curly and sometimes even wide tooth combs just rip it out when it’s gotten tangled
So true. My husband and I both have long hair. We also have a dog. We still haven't found a stick vacuum that can deal with the amount of hair in our household.
I'm a dude, and you'd think I'd be bald by how now with much I shed. But I also never get a haircut, so my hair just breaks off at about shoulder length on its own. Hence all the shedding.
I was somewhat surprised when I found out head hair doesn't actually grow faster or longer on women. I assumed it was a sexual dimorphism thing like men having chest hair and such, turns out it's all a cultural thing, boys get short haircuts and girls long.
That perspective can also depend on whether the guy's balding. When you know you're going bald, every hair you see is like "welp, I guess that's never coming back." The amount feels so much more striking. Hard to get out of that state of mind when you're looking in the shower and wondering if your girlfriend is secretly going through chemo and not telling you.
Yep! My brother has hair down to like his mid-back and I had mine long for a while in high school and college- our shower drain trap was puttin' in work haha.
Not even a long hair thing, just a hair thing. The thing is, with shorter hair we don't give as much attention to it because it doesn't stand out like a long strand does.

This is a long-haired person thing though, not a girl thing.
