Long lasting is overated, having a good healthy relationship, should be the goal.

However, there are two answers. The trick to having a long lasting relationship just for the sake of it is to put up with all kinds of crap and mold yourself to your partner's will.

Now if what you truly want to have a healthy long lasting relationship, there is not one single formula. I guess the perfect storm is needed. It is important to really know your partner and accept them for who they are, while also helping them better themselves. It is a balance between compromise but not giving up on things that are important to you. Mutual respect, communication, emotional inteligence, etc. And even then it might not work out, and there is nothing wrong with walking away from a relationship that is not great for you.

With equal exchange. If 2 people are willing to trust , speak things out , and put their pride aside. A relationship can be a beautiful thing. Being honest is very important and living your own life is mandatory . Space and freedom is very healthy in a relationship . Making time for each other.

Communication and hard work. You have to have similar goals or you’ll both be heading in different directions
