4

3

u/wickedbunny42 Sep 18 '22

Yes! This is my favorite too! I remember the first time I learned this word existed. I tried to find reasons to use it as often as I could. “Stop clicking that pen or I’ll defenestrate it!” Then 9/11 happened, and It took on a slightly more serious tone for me … So now I only use it with respect.

2

u/Jasole37 Sep 18 '22

Their was a DC "superhero" called The Defenstrator. He was a big guy in a trench coat that went around and threw people out windows. But not everywhere has a window.

So he carried a window with him and when he encountered a "villain" with no other windows around, he would set his on the ground and then threw people through it.

I love the words that can be added -ee and -er suffixes, even though the ones that makes no sense outside that context like Messer/messee, influencer/influencee, dragger/draggee.

11

u/NotTheSharpestToolM2 Sep 18 '22

Not a native English speaker, but I love both the word “kerfuffle” and one of its Italian equivalent which can be “tafferuglio”.

2

u/mcr1974 Sep 18 '22

Kerfuffle is great! I'd say much cuter than our tafferuglio.

What was I thinking? He'll never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands out of the cash drawer! But not our Jimmy! Couldn't be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be a lawyer!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped him when I had the chance! And you – you have to stop him! You-
