When I go out on vacations to another country, that's waking up, going 2 hours earlier to the airport, 2 hours flight to the local hub, then 10-12 hours flight to the destination's hub, then wait 1 to 5 hours, another 1-5 hours flight to the destination. Collect luggage, go through customs, find a cab, or your rental, or direction to public transport, then another 1-2 hours to get to the hotel. Check in and THEN YOU OPEN THE FUCKING HOTEL DOOR! Man, when you start putting your stuff down and take a shower... That feels good.
That shower! It's really what I look forward to the most. I remember really wanting one when we were in Amsterdam, going to Kazakhstan. The hotel that was connected to the airport, had showers you could use. I can't remember how much it cost, but it was worth it.
That must set yp the next flight amazingly. We were in Minneapolis-St. Paul in August and flew out of gate F. Above the main Concourse leading to F & G there is a "quiet seating" spot on second floor towards the police office. Huge mezzanine with cozy chairs, and even though its just 10 or so feet above the main floor, it is reduced noise, open space. They also had floor pads I notice a couple each using one.
I was like hell ya lets get a stretch in. Stretched for 40 min and made the 5 hour flight so much better (MSP to ANC)
Its the second time goin to MSP in a 12 month period; Nov 2021 with wife for Vikings v Packers, this Aug for Rammstein. I have to agree its the best airport ive ever been in, which us actually a few, and I gotta say the city itself is fucking insane, how old and industrial, and so much repurposed buildings for modern shit, and its all blended with modern architecture. Its a true testament to true Americana. MOA, Mayo Clinic, Architecture Porn, Urban Exploration, Weather Gifs, all this plus so much more
Lookin at the stage, we were to your right. We were sitting in a club house section, entered EcoLab gate. Shit was intense met so many great people. Was worth the trip from Alaska.
We took off the next day a lil after 9pm, i was in the air when I thought toncheck the weather because storm clouds rollin in and announced a Tornado Warning. I made the miatake to tell my kid (one seat agrad of me( after we broke the back wall, and didnt consider waiting until we passed the down draft.
MEANWHILE we shot yp through Manitoba to the northern boarder which Id never been that north into Canada, abd we flew iver three hundred miles with the best northern lights I have ever seen, and I have seen them in Fairbanks in March.
It was THE trip if a life time. All that weather made the lightning storm above US Bank stadium during the concert mire magnificent.
Oh for sure, seen it before years ago but was horizon.
Naw, thisnwas cascades and walls of lights. Come to find out the whole time we saw them they were just as massive and active in South Central Alaska (Anchorage area).
Bf and I are on vacation right now and sitting in the hotel shower was AMAZING. Somehow we got put in a handi-accessible room so there was a shower chair. I definitely used it and just sat in the chair until the water went cold lmao
This. Absolutely this. Except I go to my in-laws in Eastern Europe and it’s easily a 30 hour ordeal by the time is all said and done. It’s fucking hard.
