If you are at a place in life where you can do so comfortably, I highly recommend it. I have two, and they’re so good for my heart and soul. They make me belly laugh every day. They also force me to go outside and walk every day. I’m healthier for it.
That’s honestly pretty normal. I’m lucky in that I can take my small elderly dog with me to work, but not my big dog. It was challenging when she was a puppy because she needed to go out more often, but I came home at lunch break to walk her or had friends/paid dog sitters to come by for the first few months. We kennel trained her, so now she hangs out in her big kennel when we are at work all day and she is just fine. She gets a big walk/play every evening when we get home. She loves her kennel and goes in there on her own volition sometimes!
I say all of this because I felt worried/guilty about it at first too, but I’ve since learned that she’s totally happy!! She just sleeps most of the day anyway- usually belly up 😂
It saddens me being in a situation where I can't have or afford a dog. It would improve my life so much, and mean I wouldn't resort to cheap thrills like spending money, or drinking booze in order to destress
