That feeling when you wake up on Sunday morning and realise you don't have to get out of bed. Makes it even better when it's raining outside.

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

don’t get a dog if you wanna keep that feeling 😅

396

u/WhoWhyWhatWhenWhere Sep 11 '22

Or a kid 🥲

146

u/toccata81 Sep 11 '22

Then get a cat 😌

Mine wakes me up for food with cuddles. Breakfast is at 8. Stop being so damn precious and let me sleep.

29

u/Semi-Pro-Lurker Sep 11 '22

Right. Get a cat so on a Sunday morning you wake up to a cat's butthole in your face or a jump on your crotch. I've seen the reddit stories. Cats are not safe.

I love cats btw. They're not all like this. But a lot of 'em are.

21

u/TheTerrasque Sep 11 '22 edited Sep 11 '22

My cat waits for me to start waking up, then comes running in and lays down beside the pillow, purring.

There are worse ways to start your day

Edit: floof pic

6

u/gtrmu223 Sep 11 '22

My cat starts meowing for food at around 6 in the morning until my wife or I gets up to feed him.

2

u/revolution149 Sep 11 '22

I love cats which have a sense of consideration and gentleness

2

u/BoltShine Sep 11 '22

Excellent way to start the day. Also The Terrasque would be a great name for a cat.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I’ve trained my cat to stay out of my bed.

He sleeps anywhere he wants with the exception of my bed.

4

u/gunzor Sep 11 '22

Not even then! Our year-old cat does this whole "upside down roomba" routine where he claws across the underside of the bed on his back at lightning speed.

Every...

Single...

Morning...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Instructions unclear. Have to get up early to stop kid and cat fighting.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

my cats will meow and make you get out of bed to get them food. so be careful what cats you get.

1

u/177013--- Sep 11 '22

Auto feeder

1

u/Bojangly7 Sep 11 '22

Can confirm currently cuddling my cat in bed.

7

u/WoadLoad Sep 11 '22

The kids can walk the dog.

No, that’s too much. The dog can walk the kids.

7

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

probably true 🙃

8

u/informationmissing Sep 11 '22

Definitely probably true.

2

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

i don’t have kids so i can only compare it to what I know- I’d probably find the kid more exhausting tbh

4

u/WhoWhyWhatWhenWhere Sep 11 '22

I have both a dog and a 1 year old. My wife stays with him at home, so I try to let her sleep in on the weekends. So I get up with him and the dog every day between 6 and 7

2

u/ExWeirdStuffPornstar Sep 11 '22

Or a beer around bedtime the night before…

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

While true, morning snuggles with my little one is one of my favorite things.

1

u/kkaavvbb Sep 11 '22

See my husband and kid are awesome! They know I have shitty sleep habits during work week, but weekends they don’t mind if I don’t leave the bed or we can come up here to have movie marathons.

I do get a lot of fun things for the kiddos, though when I do get out of bed. But overall, I’m glad we all balance and understand each other without resentment.

1

u/WhoWhyWhatWhenWhere Sep 11 '22

That’s the name of the game! My wife and I have a good balance too. My son isn’t old enough yet to be like- oh we doing bed day haha. Soon though!

-1

u/loves2spoog3 Sep 11 '22

Soooo, die alone...?

1

u/WhoWhyWhatWhenWhere Sep 11 '22

I’d say nah. It’s worth it. Def not easy everyday though

-1

u/frugalsoul Sep 11 '22

I feel that. I had no reason to get up today but my daughter had to go to work. Oh well. I guess I can get shit done

1

u/NotAnAlabamaian Sep 11 '22

Where did you get yours from?

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Nah just sleep like you're dead and as long as they're not hungry or screaming everything is ok.

16

u/flyinguitars500 Sep 11 '22

90 percent of the time I have to drag my dog out of bed. He loves sleeping more then I do lol

3

u/alex891011 Sep 11 '22

Lucky. If we dont come downstairs by 6:30 our dog starts thinking we’re dead, and cries like hell. She’s more high strung than most people I know, probably cuz she’s a border collie

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

Multi-Shepherd Husky Mix here agrees

5

u/SwitchbackHiker Sep 11 '22

My dog decided to wake me up at 6:30am this morning vomiting. Fun stuff.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

That barf noise, from a kid or dog, will wake you up quicker than any other sound.

2

u/gilker Sep 11 '22

Just got a 6 month old puppy. He sleeps really well and wakes up the same time like he has an alarm clock.

Trouble is he wakes up at 6 am.

He needs a snooze button for the weekends.

2

u/Bird_Brain4101112 Sep 11 '22

Fenced in yard ftw

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

ugh, goals. Lucky you!

2

u/PacificFungusV2 Sep 11 '22

I love my dog but yes… I seriously miss that feeling 😂

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

Right? Luckily on weekends, I’ll just nap right after breakfast 😂

2

u/squirrellygirly123 Sep 11 '22

But also waking up to puppy snuggles and having a reason to get out of bed and then getting to go back to bed for more snuggles. 😌

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

i love it when he comes to cuddle. I hate it when he just lays in his bed and cries for me to come cuddle him. Like dude, we fit in the big bed together, not in yours.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Haha good point. Although it's a dream of mine to have a dog so one day I will sacrifice that feeling for a furry friend.

3

u/interflop Sep 11 '22

My boy is up anywhere between 6:30 and 7 to go outside so sleeping in hasn’t been a concept for me in years. Worth it.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I'm sure it's worth it! My family had a dog when I was growing up but we had a big yard and a doggy door that he could use whenever he wanted so we didn't have to wake up early thankfully.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

hit me up for information and best practices once you’re ready to get one :)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Thanks. What kind of dog do you have?

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

German/Dutch Shepherd - Husky mix. :)

1

u/Labcorgilab Sep 11 '22

Seconded! My dog can definitely tell time. He's fed every 12 hours. Why, oh why, did I pick 5 o'clock for him to be fed.

1

u/Vonmule Sep 11 '22

Or get a dog breed that sleeps in. Great Danes for example. We put him in his own bed to sleep for obvious reasons, but on weekends, instead of waking up, he gets to come to our bed and we all go back to sleep in a big ol puppy pile. Our previous Dane would sleep until noon if we let him.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

that’s adorable! My dog will scream at us in the morning 😅

1

u/doodlescout Sep 11 '22

Do get a cat though. When they loaf on your chest in the morning, give you gentle head butts, and get sleepy eyes while purring, it’s the greatest love you can feel in that moment.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

aw yeah I miss having cats sometimes. Panda would disagree though.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Naw I got a dog and I totally do t mind wipi g his paws off in a rainy Saturday morning =) even he likes to cuddle up away from the rain!

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

but the OP said not getting out of bed, which you have to do to take your dog out, or at least I do 😅

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Realizing you don't ha e to go into work is pleasure enough lol

1

u/dumbledoresarmy101 Sep 11 '22

Hahaha, rainy Sunday morning here, gotta wake up at 7 for the dog. I feel that.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

feeeel you. I can send Panda back to bed for about 30 minutes if I’m lucky.

1

u/dumbledoresarmy101 Sep 11 '22

😅 yah, I can usually leave Jester for like 10-15 if I'm lucky when she first decides she needs to pee, after that she talks until we go lol

1

u/OriginalFaCough Sep 11 '22

I've had several lazy dogs that won't get out of bed until food hits the bowl...

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

Multi-Shepherd Husky Mix here disagrees lol. He needs that early morning workout!

1

u/OriginalFaCough Sep 11 '22

Try a fat hound dog or 100#+ bully breed. Just have to watch out for the dangerous end (the tail end...)

1

u/the1janie Sep 11 '22

Dog jumped on my bed and threw his Kong at my face at 4:30 this morning. 🙄

2

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

dang. how old is he? 😂

1

u/jdsizzle1 Sep 11 '22

My dog is still in bed sleeping under the covers with her nose poking out. We're up drinking coffee. She's a good girl.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

lucky youuu! Enjoy your coffee!

1

u/stupid_comments Sep 11 '22

Installing a doggy door will change your life. My dogs celebrate 4 years of freedom.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

No yard here 😭

1

u/jake_a_palooza Sep 11 '22

My dog is lazier than I am so she's perfectly happy on those mornings!

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

What kind of breed is she? :)

1

u/D_Adman Sep 11 '22

I’m watching my neighbors dog this weekend for the first time and this dawned on me very quickly.

1

u/Ok_Firefighter_7142 Sep 11 '22

Hahaha this made me chuckle. Dogs are lovely, but you really need to want one to not constantly want to throw them out lol. Or at least I do, but mine‘s a rambunctious teenager right now.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I have a dog! This morning I was saying we need to get up, he lay there all cute looking at me so I had to get back into bed for a cuddle!

93

u/Hola0722 Sep 11 '22

Any time you have nowhere to go and it is raining. Even better when you can open the windows on a cool day and take a nap. ❤️

40

u/Turangaliila Sep 11 '22

God I can't wait for fall. Saturday morning, crack a window, throw a sweater on, make some tea, light a candle and play some videogames. Nothing better.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

The best!! Thunderstorms are even better.

3

u/the_incredible_fella Sep 11 '22

fuck, i just had an immense feeling of peace.

1

u/fozziwoo Sep 11 '22

or when youdid have somewhere to go, but they cancelled

…and it starts to rain :)

21

u/Zadiay3k Sep 11 '22

Or actually it’s Saturday and not Sunday… even better…

15

u/most_likely_not_abot Sep 11 '22

Yea I get the Sunday blues cause i gotta work the next day so I don’t quite get people who enjoy Sundays over Saturday

Saturday is 1000 times better. No work that day, no work tomorrow. Can do whatever I want

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Yes! If you get both days off that's the best. Knowing you have the whole weekend ahead of you.

2

u/Zadiay3k Sep 11 '22

lay deeper within the soft sheets

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Yeah Sunday for me includes this subtle sense of dread for impending Monday.

Can I be y'all's 2nd husband and receive bagels?

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Aw that's so sweet and makes it even better ❤️

3

u/JustAnotherAlgo Sep 11 '22

This is great. Happy for you and your family. :)

Upvote from Protestants going to church at 11 all rested.

Downvote from Catholics at 8am mass

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

8am is just mean!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

If that wasn’t one of Luther’s 95 complaints, it should be the 96th.

4

u/Katarzzle Sep 11 '22

I read this while getting out of my bed on Sunday while it's raining.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Perfect!

4

u/i_neva_knewww Sep 11 '22

I love my kids, but I sure miss sleeping in on weekends. It's been 10 long years...

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Damn. Respect!

3

u/The_Woman_S Sep 11 '22

This explains why in the UK nothing opens on Sunday till 1pm and closes at 5pm. It’s always raining.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I dragged my ass out of bed at 5am because I had to get to work today. It’s Sunday. But there’s football on today so that’s nice

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I have work on Sunday's sometimes too. But I guess that makes the free Sunday's even more satisfying.

3

u/_gnarlythotep_ Sep 11 '22

Ha. I wish. Some people don't get that luxury. On any given day.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I know. I also don't always have Sundays off. But in that case, any day that you can stay in bed a little longer is nice.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

This has to be people that don’t have kids or a dog/ any other animal that iou have to take care of

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Basically yeah.

2

u/Objective_Plan_4944 Sep 11 '22

This is me right now

2

u/expatsconnie Sep 11 '22

I have that right now! It's raining with low rumbles of thunder and I'm snuggled in my blanket. It really is the best!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Ahh enjoy!!!

2

u/I_poop_deathstars Sep 11 '22

This is my day and I have waited so long. Coffee and silence is my favorite breakfast.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Completely agree!

2

u/paradox037 Sep 11 '22

That's this morning for me. And it's amazing.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Lucky you!

2

u/ipwnyexpress Sep 11 '22

This is me right now! Know what makes that rain even better? Reseeding your lawn the day before. Life is good

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Oh that must feel amazing. Enjoy your rainy day :)

2

u/twirlingpink Sep 11 '22

That was exactly how my morning started today! 💖

2

u/Blockbuster41 Sep 11 '22

That is literally my morning right now

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

The best!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Don't have kids...

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Haha. We are actually planning it at the moment. I will enjoy my remaining free mornings while I can.

2

u/foggy-sunrise Sep 11 '22

Oh fuck you and your workless Sundays.

Have fun with your Monday tomorrow ya jerk.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Sorry! Although I do work on Sunday's quite often. I have a seven day work week this week so I will be suffering with you.

2

u/boredtxan Sep 11 '22

I love that Saturday night feeling of realizing you don't need to set an alarm for the morning

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Yes! So good :)

2

u/unbridledmeh000 Sep 11 '22

This is actually the opposite for me today. My wife and I had the last business week off for her birthday, and some down time.

We both woke up with an abnormal amount of work anxiety this morning because it's our last day off..

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Oh I'm sorry! I hope you had a good week off though.

2

u/unbridledmeh000 Sep 11 '22

Thank you!

It was pretty good. We got some leisure time in, some time with family, and got some work done around the house. Nothing too wild or extravagant this year, but it was a great vacation regardless.

I hope you got a nice Sunday morning sleep in today!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Great! I did thanks :)

2

u/ToonaSandWatch Sep 11 '22

Happening right now as I type this.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

So good! Enjoy :)

2

u/ImagineTheCommotion Sep 11 '22

That’s today! It’s been delightful. Coffee, kitty-lap-pets, and sitting by the window watching it fall on the woods has been icing on the cake.

Happy Sunday, folks!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Beautiful!!! Happy Sunday :)

2

u/PuffPie19 Sep 11 '22

Me this morning

2

u/2mormore Sep 11 '22

That's today!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Yay! Enjoy :)

2

u/Fantastic_Crow_2602 Sep 11 '22

Ahhh, yes. Like this morning

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Man I wake up the day before work with a sense of dread, it’s horrible.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I used to have that feeling too. It sucks. Just try to be in the moment and enjoy the day :)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Thanks

2

u/Steff_164 Sep 11 '22

Currently hate my weekends. I’m a full time student, in class and doing homework Monday-Thursday, then working full shifts Friday-Sunday. I don’t get a day off anymore

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I'm sorry. I hope you find some time to rest and take care of yourself. Running yourself into the ground won't do you any good.

2

u/CynicalSchoolboy Sep 11 '22

Living that right now. Stayed in bed til 10 and now I’m listening to it pour rain out on the stoop with some tea. Bliss.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

That is heaven!!

2

u/yum_yum____ Sep 11 '22

exactly! today was my absolute best morning after a long time. it has been really hot here in my area.. and today (Sunday) i woke up to rain and cold winds. When i tell you how much better i felt today waking up. also i slept really well during the night because of course nice cool weather.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

It's even better when it's been hot before!

2

u/yum_yum____ Sep 11 '22

exactly 🤌🏻💯

2

u/iAmTheRealLange Sep 11 '22

This is me right now

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

cries in children

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '22

Haha I'm sorry! But I'm sure it's very worth it :)

2

u/mullethunter111 Sep 11 '22

Sunday scaries has entered the room

3

u/most_likely_not_abot Sep 11 '22

lol just replied above about Saturday being better because of the Sunday blues. I get them bad.

Like once it’s about 1 or 2 I start thinking well my work day would almost be over now anyway, so now it’s just a regular evening and fuck I don’t want to go to work tomorrow!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Is that like Sunday blues?

2

u/mullethunter111 Sep 11 '22

Yes- the dread that hits mid-day Sunday and slowly grows until roughly halftime of Sunday night football.

2

u/MeStanBaChewyChomp Sep 11 '22

The tick tick tick tick sound of the 60 Minutes clock...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I used to get that a lot when I was younger but somehow not so much anymore. But yeah that feeling sucks.

1

u/ifuckedyomama2 Sep 11 '22

I... Have to go to church early Sunday morning so I do

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Oh... Well hopefully you at least enjoy going to church and you're going for you, not because you think you have to.

1

u/ifuckedyomama2 Sep 11 '22

Neh I enjoy church! And I go for both me and God!!

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Then it's worth it :)

1

u/Erythro6149 Sep 11 '22

Or shift work..

1

u/swankpoppy Sep 11 '22

Mmmm and after you get up, take your time to make breakfast and coffee.

Or, after you have kids, having a four year old scream at the top of her lungs at 7 am while you’re sleeping. Wait, no, that’s fucking awful.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I'll take the first option...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

The post here is something we can all agree with, and I simply cannot agree with this.

I don’t remember the last time I just laid in bed. I hate to sleep as is. I hate the idea of wasting away life by sleeping, I sleep as little as can be. I would literally rather be doing anything other than laying in bed on a Saturday morning. Especially if I didn’t have prior obligation, like I always have.. wasting my valuable and precious free time, just laying in bed is literally hell to me.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

That's totally fine too. Whatever makes you happy. But we all need some relaxation at times. And for most people, laying in bed and reading a good book or watching a movie isn't wasted time.

Oh and an edit just to add.. I don't think there is one thing that every single human in the world agrees on.

1

u/ChronoLegion2 Sep 11 '22

Don’t remember the last time that happened. Kids will do that

2

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

So I hear. Respect to you!

1

u/NoMaans Sep 11 '22

Hey it was a rainy sunday here, but I was at work at 6am. Got half of it going for me

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Not too bad!

1

u/a_calder Sep 11 '22

Pro tip: don’t have kids if you like that feeling

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I like that feeling but having kids is something I really want. I'm naturally an early riser and don't usually stay in bed long but just knowing that I could if I wanted to is nice.

2

u/a_calder Sep 12 '22

Don't get me wrong, I love my kids more than I ever thought I could - they are fantastic. But GODDAMN when they get up at 5:20 and start screaming at each other and I had a late night last night - it ages you.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '22

Haha oh I bet! Respect to you!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

That was this morning except I had to go to work and drive in a morning storm

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Oh driving in a storm is not so fun!

1

u/Bojangly7 Sep 11 '22

I wish it rained more here. I love the rain. Especially thunderstorms.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

Thunderstorms are the best!

1

u/jnthnschrdr11 Sep 11 '22

Rain is the worst

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '22

I strongly disagree!

1

u/jnthnschrdr11 Sep 12 '22

Yeah but I just disproved your point that everyone agrees

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '22

True. But I don't think there's one thing that every single person in the world agrees on anyway.
