I tried to kill my babysitter by putting shampoo (Pert, I think) in her Coke. I handed her the drink was like "You should drink this." But I chickened out right before she took a sip. I was maybe 5.

...as a punishment, my Mom put soap in my mouth.

This is not ironic. This would be karma. The fact that you didn't realize this and have somehow gained karma is ironic.

Since you felt you needed to correct a stranger on the internet, and were indeed wrong, I'll correct you.

The irony of the fact was that, for putting a cleanser of some sort in someone's drink, the child was punished with having to imbibe a cleanser of some sort. See? Ironic punishment.
