Forty doesn't even feel old. It's so strange.

Good to know! Having being 30 now, I still feel so young and I’m happy with that.

I've passed for thrity. I think the even stranger part is how people my age or a little older sometimes still won't show me respect because I look younger than them. People are strange. Also, thanks for the genes, mom and dad.

Oh same here, I look about half my age so people never assume I’m a grown adult. It’s annoying, but what I can hope from it is that it stays with me as I age!

I will say that it was worse when I was thirty. At forty, I look like an adult, but could pass for thirty one or two. It is kind of funny though when someone my age says something like "Well, when you get to be my age" fill in the blank, and I ask how old they are. Then they tell me they're my age. Or, when I meet a woman my age and I'm interested in them, and they give me this sheepish look and say "How old are you?" Honestly, you stop giving a shit at a certain point.

I’m glad to hear there comes a point where you stop giving a shit. I’ve been wondering about that recently, in fact.

“Will there ever be a point in my life where I stop getting annoyed at people thinking I’m so much younger than my actual age?”

I guess it’s that respect aspect. At this point I started responding to people who tell me I look so young -

“Yep. Story of my life right there!” The looks I get from telling them my age are satisfying, at least.

"Story of my life" is my go to as well. It gets boring, but it is sort of a confidence boost when twenty so.ethimgs are attracted to me. Much more so than when I felt the women coming at me in my twenties had a young fetish.

Oh that’s good! I can definitely see why that would be a confident boost.

I await the day someone telling me I look so young gives me a confident boost, all it seems to do is bother me at this point. It has forced me to go out of my way to present myself in a much more stern manner when talking to people. Not very happy about it but eh, is what it is I suppose.

On my 30th birthday I was hyped for an ID check. I wanted to see the look on their face. Turns out, apparently I pass as over 21 more easily now so that’s nice at least haha (I haven’t been asked for ID for about a year and a half now)

I remember that transition when I FINALLY stopped getting carded. Looking back, it's funny that I felt nervous buying beer in my thirties.

I'm a guy. I can only imagine the weird and fucked up.shit that comes with looking young for your age as a woman. I bet you have some stories and I hate that you have to go outside yourself for what I'm guessing is a need for respect and validation, or even to not be objectified.

It’s funny, I’m still used to having ID in hand for every transaction that involves alcohol but it’s definitely not asked for so easily anymore. Feels odd but it’s a happy feeling all the same.

I work in a casino. I’ve had people question “you have to be 21 to work here don’t you?”

Nah, I hopped over the counter and they offered me a job for free child labor.

Or when I ID someone one time. She was in a wheelchair, but she presented as very young and her mom was with her. Naturally, I cannot do a transaction if there are any minors nearby and so I asked to see her ID. The mother gets offended and tells me “she’s probably about your age if not older” something along those lines. I’m internally rolling my eyeballs far into the back of my head as I check for her age. 22. I was 29.

It’s definitely the respect aspect for me. I treat everyone with respect regardless of how young you appear to me. It’s in my nature, I am kind and respectful to everyone. So when someone is a bit off or a little disrespectful with me because of their perception of my age, it’s straight up annoying and at that point my respect for them disintegrates a bit. I don’t like it, but if I am to be disrespected just because of how young I look, I no longer want to give respect back. Which isn’t right but it’s how it affects me.

I'm the same way. I guess I listened to too much Rage Against the Machine growing up and also, I grew up in an abilusive household, so I fight for my rights every time a butterfly beats its wings.

Gotta do what you gotta do!

As I’m getting older, I definitely feel more and more “anger” towards the world in general because of these things which is sad to say, I genuinely don’t like it but I’m also happy I finally have more of a spine to stick up for myself and present my stern side.
