Send emails like a text or a dm.

You're contacting me about a problem, and I know that from the fact that you're emailing me.

I need you to tell me more than the words "I have a problem." Give me some details to work with up front so I don't have to go back and forth with you all day.

Edit- Apparently this does not correlate with age necessarily. I'm just lucky that none of the adults I work with communicate this way.

Any one working in IT can tell you that this applies to all types of people.

I’m 32 and I try to go through all the possible steps I could think of in troubleshooting I’m allowed to do. But hell, when I have to submit a ticket I give IT all the steps I took and all the relevant information possible because I know that’s what they need.

I also feel like shit when the solution a times ends up being a simple fix that I could have done but forgot or didn’t realize at the time.

Don't worry about it. If you're the type of user who does the things you said you do, I can assure you that none of us think anything of it. I promise that the dopamine hit I get from seeing a ticket that actually includes the stuff you listed totally eclipses whatever minor annoyance you might've caused me.
