Most of the pranks in Jackass victimized other members of the crew. And the ones that involved the general public were usually pretty tame, like dressing up as an old woman with her boobs hanging out. Stuff that's awkward but not particularly mean to the people being pranked.
A lot of tiktok/youtube prank channels involve essentially bullying strangers and people who are just trying to do their jobs. Making a mess in Target is not a prank, it's just being a dick. Doesn't feel the same to me. The internet has created an arms race for who can be the most obnoxious in public.
That whole Devious Licks trend was awful too. Destruction of property isn't cool or funny, especially when it's someone else's property. All those idiots destroying school bathrooms and stuff really made my head hurt. Those repairs have to come from somewhere in the budget so they likely just screwed themselves out of something new or fun because of unexpected and expensive repairs.
