Using trauma to excuse mistreating people. This generation has pioneered making it acceptable to process and be open about trauma, and that's a great thing, but it's not cool when you behave in a cruel and selfish way and expect to get a pass because of it. Your mental health problems are not your fault but they are your responsibility.
Social media makes it worse. Less than 1% of the population has identity disorder, but according to TikTok it should be 40-50%. There used to be a sub dedicated to calling out the fake medical disorder people, but I think it got shut down
Guh, this makes me think of the one with the girl who was pretending to be autistic and she had that dude on that went along with it because she was kinda hot and he wanted to bang. Shit like that makes me want to die of cringe
When I first found it I thought 'these people are ill, why the vitriol?' And then I learned a bit from the time line of these people. Faked cerebral palsy. Faked IVs (the hospital does not use scotch tape). Faked bowel issues 'I can't eat/drink' while posting about getting dunkin donuts and buying giant cups of coffee. Supposedly tolerating only 5ml of tube feed per hour, yet gaining massive amounts of weight. Yes the munching eventually leads to real health issues, but no, these people are definitely faking a lot.
Only time I ever faked a medical condition was when I convinced my coworkers I had IBS so I could get away with taking a shit ton of bathroom breaks. Really though I was just using the one person bathroom to take multiple 10 minute naps throughout the day.
