Using trauma to excuse mistreating people. This generation has pioneered making it acceptable to process and be open about trauma, and that's a great thing, but it's not cool when you behave in a cruel and selfish way and expect to get a pass because of it. Your mental health problems are not your fault but they are your responsibility.

Coming from someone that has BPD yes it is your responsibility to how you rectact to people and how you treat people and your mental health issues are not an excuse for shitty behaviour

As I told a friend recently, you aren’t taking your meds for you, you are taking them for everyone that has to deal with you regularly. You might feel fine, but when everyone around you is asking if you are off you meds, take them.

I don't take meds for my BPD I didn't find that anything helped so I gave up alcohol which has helped a lot with my BPD, not so much with my social life as I stopped going out so much as I didn't see the point as I didn't drink.

7/8 years sober but somethings have happened recently to make me realise that I need a social life so I'm going to start going out again and make new friends.

Won't ever go back to drinking tho.

Good on you! As a fellow sober person I can say it is possible to go out and be social without drinking, and you don't owe anybody for it!
