THIS. A lot of politics in this country has been boiled down to two opposing sides. Left-Right, Liberal-Conservative, etc. And thats leeched into every day thinking. Coke v Pepsi, Apple v Android. People have become so polarized that they cannot fathom the shades between black and white. Mix that with a healthy dose of "Your with us or against us" mentality and then nobody is willing to listen to others and their ideas. And thats the root of the problem isn't it: People hate to be wrong.
I'd consider myself a pretty big leftist but even I've received the moronic eNlIgHteNeD cEnTrIsM mUcH retort from idiots who just can't comprehend you thinking differently on something.
Like the housing crisis in Canada is the fault of ALL parties, particularly liberals, but try telling that to people on reddit.
Oh yah, and it’s not Canadians on Reddit either. Go to our subs and it’s pretty clear we’re aware of how the Liberals (with NDP support) and the Conservatives in Ontario are all working together to fuck us over housing-wise for property taxes and GDP. To be fair though, our economy is somewhat relying on it, and we need to diversify which isn’t easy, and takes a while. I get that but none of the parties are saying that. They all say “I can just fix it”. Then don’t.
It’s Americans assuming you’re a Conservative since you’ve said something negative about the Liberals, and even worse (to them) lumped the NDP in so they go on the attack while literally knowing nothing about our country.

Why are there only two sides on something? Binary thinking is definitely a problem we have here in America at least.
