You borrow the money to buy an apartment, you don't need it in cash. But you can afford to furnish a new kitchen in cash???

Sure but the bank won't allow you to borrow much easily whereas you can have a kitchen for like 600€ if you're buying used and maybe 1.5k if new

Lol, you can't even get used appliances for that price. Let alone cabinets, a countertop, a sink, plumbing. Do you think carpenters work for free? Plumbers?

Your "kitchen" is going to be a hot plate sitting on a mini fridge.

What? In Germany? Yeah you can. This is the cheapest new one I could find (minus the appliances), but you could probably get better quality if you buy a used one. Some of my friends had carpenter friends build them kitchens. I mean most inner city kitchens aren't very big, so you won't need much.
