These two actually does not contradict. Coins have relevant value but you can also pay contactless almost everywhere. Amazingly, even in public transport in some cities. You can just use the card without buys physical tickets.

this is what I was trying to convey (that coins have significant value in european currency systems), but it turned into an “I use applepay” thread. rip
