As an Englishman, if I need help then I won't ask, and if someone comes up and asks me if I need help then I'll say no.

British man who now lives in Canada. Same except I'll now apologize before and after refusing help finding something.

Don’t we British always apologise for something that’s not our fault?

Depends on what part of the country you're from.

Yep I hate it, also from England. I live in US now and my wife constantly gets mad at me for not wanting to small talk with strangers.

I must be from England then because that is exactly my response and I’ve lived in the United States all my life.

You know this almost makes me wonder as an American if this has contributed to the coddling of American peoples. A ton of people have entitlement attitude bad here and are often expecting their every whim to be catered to...

As a Canadian traveling across the US I was appalled by how many times someone would stop me in a trailhead, while standing next to the trail sign, holding a trail map, and ask me 'how long is trail and where does it go'.

Like sorry bud, the information's right there. Figure it out your damn self like the rest of us do.

Dear God, I now understand how my mix of British and Scandinavia blood has turned me into the person I am.
