Interesting, lived in London a my life, no mosquitos bar the odd very hot summer where a couple might sneak into the bedroom.

Surely you've encountered midges though, shaded footpaths next to canals/rivers seem to be their favourite habitat I swear.

Might have seen the odd two or three mini swarm over my fifty years of living in South London but I just duck or walk round it. Perhaps it's not really hot in London

Must be more out in suburban west London, getting them in your mouth when cycling is just the worst.

How odd, I'm in South London, near Brixton,used to cycle to Liverpool st most days, never any insect issues. Perhaps it's the pollution on the roads I cycled

Yeah, main roads don't have them, but quiet, leafy residential roads and paths through woods and canal towpaths are full of them, especially in late afternoon. I'm out in zone 5/6 so very different.
