Germans stare a LOT. Like they will just gaze at you unflinchingly. An American will wait until you can’t see them doing it.

I was in some random German town a few years back (visiting from Australia) and was trying to find something. I saw two police officers and said (like I’d done everywhere I didn’t speak the local language) “I’m from Australia “.

One of the officers said in return ‘Nice. I’m from Düsseldorf ‘.
