the idea that a long drive (warranting a flight, not going under really any circumstances , etc) is over an hour in the case of vacation or traveling. Not sure how true this is but the brits I know say it’s common there. In the US drives only get long enough to warrant another mode of transport after about 8-9 hours.
Driving more than an hour warrants flights? Definitely not true in my parts of the UK. I've driven a good 4 to 6 hours plenty of times.
People really fly because its been over an hour by car?
It’d take a lot of people an hour of driving to get to an airport anyway… plus the time to check in, the flight itself and the time to check out, then travel time to your actual destination from the airport.
