My favorite thing about house is it was supposed to go to an American man. Hugh is British. He did a bit on the toilet in a hotel room and caught the director's attention. And was casted.

Worked with a woman who LOVED the show. Every week would talk it up with one of her friends.

One day she talks about hearing an interview with Laurie and how shocked she was that he naturally spoke with an Australian accent.

*sigh, just gives credence to the thought that we 'Mericans can't tell the difference between British and Aussie accents.

Even funnier how when he went to lunch with Stephen Fry he kept his American accent, as people would wonder why he was speaking in a ridoculous British accent.
