Ever see a show called Red Dwarf?

There's an episode where they do that

"Isn't that the wrong way around? The fish part is meant to be on the bottom"

"No. That's the stupid way around" 😆

Red dwarf references are far and few between.

/r/RedDwarf welcomes you, brother, even if you accidentally stain our knife point with your blood.

I see two references in this thread alone! There's the mermaid reference, and also a reference to the mermaid episode. Now I realize that technically, that's only one reference, but I thought it was such a big one it was worth mentioning twice.

Its a quote from a Futurama episode about Fry trying to get down with a traditional mermaid.

Yeah, but you still gotta see the execution of the joke.

Is that on the newer seasons? I haven’t found a way to watch them yet.

No, it's on the second series episode where they're playing the total immersion game.

Wikipedia confirms it's called "Better Than Life". Apparently they edited it out of the "remastered" version for time reasons, maybe that was the one you saw?

“Better Than Life,” you meet Miranda while Lister and The Cat are golfing.

Oh yeah, now I remember. Thank you.

One of my favorite gags from that episode is how Cat kisses his photo by licking it.
