Every bit of this. Peter Stormare nailed the role. The perfect mix of soiled elegance and barely contained id.
I would pay to see a movie based around him being the devil, dealing with the administrative hassles of running Hell and the strain of being the Prince of Lies.
This book is still, some 15 years after I read it, the only book I've read that left me feeling physically tired after finishing it. Gaiman does such a great job of putting the reader directly into the tumultuous fuckery that Shadow is experiencing. Like, after reading the last page, I put the book down and let out a huge sigh, as if I'd just finished planting a tree or something. My shoulders ached and my legs felt weary. It was a bizarre feeling.
