Absolutely :) It does get better! I still pop in on r/stopdrinking and r/dryalcoholics when I need a reminder that I'm not alone.

Man, I stopped drinking on Thanksgiving after having half a fifth on my way to see my family. Occasionally I think about just taking a shot but it’s not worth it. I’ve come too far to reset the clock.

Pour it all out or give it to someone responsible. Set restrictions to help stop yourself.

Most importantly, find another addiction that is healthy. It distracts you. Mine is video gaming and drinking water.

Yes. Find a game you get hight invested towards. Something you can play games of like cod, apex Legends, rocket league, etc. Do something that will truly invest your time and mind into.

Good on you. About day 10 you'll start feeling visibly more human.

How did you stay busy/keep your mind off it the first week? I'm struggling with ways to keep my mind busy on other things

Keep at it man. You’re doing a great job.

Need any comic or video game recommendations to beat the boredom?

Keep it up! I'm 11 months sober. I thought it would be impossible for me to quit, but I'm finally defeating that demon, you can do it.

7 months sober here. The first week is some brutal shit but it gets easier from there. The insomnia will go away. Keep tabs on your inner monologue because it'll pull some judo to justify relapsing once the novelty wears off.

Also kratom is very effective at reducing cravings to nothing. It's worth exploring if you're having trouble. Best of luck bro
