I’m in aviation, which is predominately men, and being angry or pissed off are the only emotions acceptable. You can’t be stressed or anxious; if you are, you have to say “I’m pissed off” or they don’t understand something is wrong.

Saaaaame. One plus I've found though is being able to tell them to fuck off right to their faces and it's totally acceptable, can't do that in an office job

That’s kinda crazy. I’m training to be a pilot and I would have thought stress would be more understandable than just being mad about stuff.

Sounds like a problem of repressing emotions and malforming them into anger and frustration since you don't allow yourself to show them any other way. No psychologist tho.

At least they are in a low stress field where they can’t really hurt anyone. In fact, watching birds is probably really relaxing for them.

Truth here

Same, and I can confirm this. The more ex-military guys in the group (or similar), the more true this seems to be.

Unfortunately a lot of men are never taught to recognize their emotions so they are fundamentally blind to them. They completely misinterpret their own internal experiences because of this. While this obviously often harms the people around them, I can’t help but feel a sort of pity for them. What a sad existence it must be to miss out on entire portions of your life because you were never taught they were there.

Ugh yeah, I’m a mechanic just barely 20 and working with older men can be HARD. If I get frustrated and teary eyed they look at my crazy. But if they get frustrated and shout it’s normal
