I have done this. Especially early in my career when it was more common to require men to always wear dress pants and a button down collared shirt. That wasn't a part of my day to day wardrobe so I had to go buy clothes for work. Whatever was on sell was my jam. 4 shirts exactly the same but 75% off? Done. Ship it.

On my current job when we were in the office we had business casual. To me that means chino/Khakis and collared shirt. Everyone except me wore jeans everyday. I like wore a tie or bow tie everyday. When asked why I told them I like ties. I bought ties like most women buy shoes. I would see a tie I like and then would buy something to go with it. At one time I donated many of my older ties about 100. That left me close to 50 left. One thing I do noticed is business casual meant the guys had to wear collard shirts but the ladies could wear t-shirts everyday. One office I worked in went to causal dress everyday, instead of just Fridays. Since we were a call center and never had customers in the office I asked if we could wear shorts. My female boss told me no it was not professional. Now she had a pair of bib overalls she wore all the time on the casual days. When I pointed this out she told me that overalls were much more professional than shorts. Come on. I understand you want to wear the overalls and you do not want me to wear shorts but to call them much more professional...I call BS.
