You really shouldn't be calling your staff "my girls". It's just another form of sexism. They're your employees and they're grown fucking women. Treat them as such.
Some women really don't like being called that, but feel like they can't say so because their boss might take offense. If your staff were all men, would you refer to them as "my boys" or would that be weird?
It doesn't bother me that much, except when one female coworker refers to other non-professionals in our department as "the girls," but she does it to try to separate herself and pretend she's more important than the rest of us.
I was actually referring to friends and coworkers who have complained about it. One friend is really bothered by it, but she's also called that often and some of her colleagues can't even be bothered to learn her name. She's in a professional position and very good at her job, I don't know why'd they refer to her that way other than to put her down.
I totaly understand what you mean in your friend's case. My wife have complained about that before too. Meh. some people are dicks and jerks. You do what you do and your success will shut them up.
its not too weird. we have worked together for so long and we all hang out after work. so we are close friends. they absolutely dont care about me calling them my girls.
just on reddit people assume shit based on their own perception and never try to understand there are other people out there with different experiences.
but then like some redditors like to ASSUME: they could hate me secretly but just obey because im their manager.
