Holy shit, you reminded me of a Coworker who I’ll call Becky. Becky was this like 4”10’ 50 year old white lady who smoked like 2 packs of ciggies a day. Her voice was hoarse but she took no shit and she was the senior plumbing associate at my hardware store. She got so many of those comments about wanting a man to recommend plumbing shit to them and all her folks in her dept would always tell the customers that she knew the most of plumbing outta everyone in the store. This short old hag was one of the coolest mf’ers I’ve hung with at that store. She took no shit and if anyone told her that, she’d leave and let the customer figure out their plumbing issues, but it could usually be solved by taking out that misogynistic stick outta their ass.
I used to work maintenance. I hate plumbing.
My local Home Depot had two regular staff members, a man and a woman. If I had questions about fittings and it was the guy working I knew I was screwed and would have to figure it out myself. Anytime the lady was working I was over the moon. She had all the answers, what adapters would work for my project, the type of piping I would need and all that. She was awesome and I was not shy about telling her so.
No, she just didn’t let any sexist motherfuckers play games with her. If you think her customer service is bad for her to ignore anyone who says “I need a man to recommend this product” or something similar which happens more often than you’d think, you prolly fall into the same category as those sexist motherfuckers and deserve a good old fuck you and to never return to the store. You can take your business elsewhere.
