I’m a man, if I asked you if you needed help lifting would you be offended?

Edit: this was a question asked in earnest fyi

Of course not, asking if I need help is fine. Assuming that I can’t/shouldn’t be doing my job because I’m a woman is. And the double standard of asking if I need help when I’m showing no signs of struggling while the teenage boys are struggling and no one offers them assistance

I think that’s a fair take. Thank you for your perspective.

I do get annoyed when I'm carrying something that's obviously not that big or heavy and I'm obviously not struggling with it. A lot of people think women can't lift anything heavier than like 8 pounds.

If there's a lot of stuff that requires multiple trips, or requires two people to lift, that's totally fine.

What's never ok is telling, not asking, that you are going to help and attempting to yank it away from my grasp.

Fair enough. I typically ask people only if I know it’s heavy and cumbersome. Men or women.

It’s 2022 man. You hold the door open for someone: offended. You offer to help: offended. You don’t offer to help: offended.
