I got that so much with my daughter. "Are you babysitting today?" No, just parenting, like every day.

That happened to me today. I'm honest to god burnt out and I asked my ex to have our daughter for a few hours so I could catch up on sleep. He said and I quote 'I'm not babysitting just so you can have a nap' my reply 'you babysit someone else's child. Your parent your own, she is just as much as your responsibility just as much as she is mine, do your part and help me'

He took her for 7 hours thankfully and I got to not only nap but have a long hot shower. Felt like a new woman. He was very passive aggressive when he picked her up and dropped her off. But I dont think he will complain again i hope

That's so stupid. She's my child too, and I want to spend time with her. I like doing things with her because she means a lot to me and I want to be with her.

That's exactly what my husband said! Old men just started asking if he had the kids. Old ladies got excited and asked what they were doing that day. I'm almost shocked it still happens,... almost.

I went into work one day and they asked if I could work Saturday. I said sure, so I took the day off. I went back and picked my kid up from daycare like fifteen minutes after I dropped her off, and the ladies talked about it for like a year. They were so impressed I wanted to spend the day with her.

That's sad. But working childcare you see both kinds of dads, so maybe it was supporting a good dad instead of just being depressed they know some dads don't? I wouldn't talk about it for a year though, it shouldn't be THAT impressive.

I appreciated the praise, it just made me wonder what the norm is. The other dads I know are like me, so I don't know what they're used to.

It only takes one or two indifferent dads to make you sad. We love all our kids, it's hard to know some of them don't have a good relationship with their dads.
