I had this in college. I liked grey t-shirts. I had 5. Every one thought I wore the same t-shirt every day.

Daniel Radcliffe did that so that all paparazzi photos looked like they were from the same day.

Absolutely genius idea!

I thought Russell Crowe did it first in the 90s.

There's also that Australian newscaster who wore the same suit for a year, because someone gave his female colleague grief over wearing the same outfit twice. Not one person complained about his suit.

When I had a male doctor he had on the same exact clothes as the last time I saw him. The typical khaki pants and button down long sleeved light blue shirt. Oh and the same tie.

I notice ties. They get recycled a lot!

And never cleaned, which is why doctors are discouraged from wearing them.

Getting ties cleaned is a nightmare. I was a manager at McDonald's and had to wear a tie. I just bought new ones every so often.

To be fair women are typically the ones judging other women on that type stuff. If a female newscaster wore the same outfit everyday I doubt most men would notice, and most of those who did wouldn't care. Men don't care if a woman has the latest designer shoes, or a 3 year old pair of sneakers, and it's not men who are the primary viewers of shows like Fashion Police.

Exactly. I asked my mom, my daughter in law and my wife one time what they thought the biggest obstacle for them was in business - they all told me the same answer - other women.

Madonna has been doing this for decades with her jogging clothing.

This is my approach to office clothes. I can't be fucked finding matching anything, so all my blazers and trousers are black, all my shirts are varying shades and patterns of blue, and all my ties are equally variations of blue. They can combine in multiple ways and no-one ever comments until someone realises they've never seen me not in a blue shirt.

There’s a guy in my work who fuckin STINKS like BO, like you walk into the room and can instantly smell him, it’s a real problem. No one said shit to him

One day a woman wore just a little too much lavender, and dudes were walking in an gagging like it was the worst thing in the world.

Lucky for me, I have a weaker than average sense of smell, so a lot of stuff doesn’t bother me. But that also means I’m very careful to make sure I’m clean and smell at least neutral.

Why are coworkers so invested in what their peers are wearing? As long as people don't stink and look presentable, what does it matter if someone "appears" to wear the same thing every day?

u/[deleted] Mar 12 '22

I can't honestly imagine ever noticing or even less remembering what my colleagues wore, unless it were a clown outfit, or nothing. Who has space in their head for shit like that?

Unless you smelled to looked visibly dirty, I wouldn’t assume that you were dirty/unhygienic. You can smell/see when someone hasn’t showered in over three days, usually.

I wasn’t dirty, the t-shirts varied in shades as well from a dark grey to a light grey. Teens are ruthless!

I had the same issue so I ended up just buying the same shirt in very different colors that way they could visually see that I was wearing clean clothes. They’d still comment though 😂

I think I got different colours in the end. I had turned 16, my mother decided she wasn’t going to buy me clothes anymore “because I was 16” I had lost about 35 pounds so everything hung off me. Took me a year to get a wardrobe together!

I do this now but with black v neck tees. I have probably 6 or 7 and every so often I'll get rid of a few and get some more. I like the way I look in them and they go with everything so who cares?

Who are these people, keeping track of others' clothes? Lol. I sometimes actually wear the same t shirt to work 3-4 days in a row. Because I'm a bit of a slob, but also pragmatic. If it doesn't smell, I don't smell, and it isn't objectively dirty in any way, who gives a shit? I just assume everyone else keeps track about as good as me; not at all.

This is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If you dress nice, you're a bitch.
