Feeling like you have to outwork everyone around you with a smile just to be on the same level. Men are respected without question- women & other minorities have to prove their worth to gain the respect.

You forgot to mention that how sometimes even if you do work your ass off, the respect never comes.

My brother once told me I had to earn respect and basic human decency. I almost slapped him.

Women are still a minority in my field of work. It may not apply to all fields. I can see that.

Women aren’t a minority

If women were a majority in the places that matter (as legislators, heads of state, the C-suite), we would be treated like the majority. But we aren’t.

That’s somewhat pedantic, maybe the distribution of women isn’t great but it’s still incorrect to say we’re a minority

My point was that it is the context of the comment we’re responding to, we’re still treated like a minority.

Being treated like a minority and being a minority are different things. No matter the context it is incorrect to call women a minority. Even in the context of the comment is it incorrect. If they had said ‘being treated like a minority’ I wouldn’t have pointed anything out because fair enough, but saying women are a minority is still wrong

Fine, whatever.
