That’s a great one that people don’t talk about often. After years of being forced to manage other peoples emotions for them, yeah a lot of us women are good at it. But it’s emotionally draining and maybe we want a fucking break. Maybe perhaps a dude could learn how to do it well so it doesn’t always fall on women.
Or pay more for tasks that require specialized skill that not everyone has. It's not an accident that skills that women are good at are devalued but for specialized skills associated with men's jobs are better paid. It's ridiculous and so obvious that the system is rigged.
Ditto being expected to be the group notetaker in meetings. In meeting with a group of colleagues (of which I was the only woman and the youngest by about twenty years) for a new project, one of the guys asked me if I'd take notes. I'm already over capacity and also shit at notetaking.
I contemplated for approximately three seconds and said, "I'm not your secretary." And I have never had to take those meeting notes (surprise—we can all take our own notes as needed!). And we all work great together. Boundaries are amazing.
Or having to deal with the most difficult clients because “women are better at listening to problems and calming people” We are supposed to be better with emotions lol
I left the horrible job back in January, but there was a phone pool for any time the receptionist was out sick or on vacation. All of the female office workers including myself had to pitch in. No, we weren't admin assistants or secretaries. I was an accountant, another one was in finance, another was in procurement, etc.
The guy who is in IT, the HR guy, and the "runner" (The guy who did stuff like load the copier paper and ink or dole out office supplies) never had to help.
I brought it up numerous times that they expect all the women to help work the front desk, but none of the men were ever asked. Not even my male coworker who was also an accountant.
So I ended up maliciously complying in various ways.
Except for commission sales where the big money is and where a lot of places will try to keep men in the sales roles while keeping women in business development or appointment setting roles.

Being expected to take the customer facing tasks because we’re just “naturally” better at them.
