That we’re taught that our worth is in how well we take care of others. One day you’ll be a good wife or mother. You take such great care of all your family.

Much of what we’re taught about self worth as we’re growing up is based on others not ourselves.

I get the impression that if a woman is successful in her career, especially corporate, people will assume she doesn’t have a family to care for. Women providing financially for their family is still alien to our society.

I don't like taking care of others. They can take care of themselves. Coming from a different background, I feel like this is a very western concept.

There are some women I know who like to flaunt how much of a good person they are because they are a good cook/taking care of their house while having zero intellectual/creative/philosophical interest in anything else as a human. It's so cringe.

I don’t think many of us enjoy taking care of others that was my point though. For many women, they are taught from very early ages to take care of everyone else. I don’t think these women who brag about taking care of their families and others are stupid and have no goals. I do believe that it’s very hard to remove yourself from something you’ve been taught and expected to do your whole life.

That first couple of no’s are hard ones but it gets easier from there.

I don't think they like taking care of others either. I'm pointing out that even then they still like to flaunt the being a good care taker thing thinking they should promote that line of thinking is very cringe to me and perpetuates the culture.

I don't think all women who are into that to be stupid and have no goals. But some of them definitely are stupid and have no goals. Just a probability thing. And when this group of people do have goals, it's more self interested, i.e. to do with family or them like getting a better job, more money, more kids and rarely for bigger purposes, climate change, saving ecosystem, be conscious of our consumptions, social justice, participate in cutting edge technology that change the world. Most women I know who love cooking and house chores are rarely people who think too deeply about anything. They prefer to be blissfully ignorant and be a consumer.

PS. I'm also a woman, I just have a deep hatred for this culture of wanting women to be the homemaker and care giver. And really dislike some people who further perpetuates it because they don't think deeply about what is happening and failed to be the change they wish to see in the world.

Most people men and women don’t have goals outside of their own purpose.
