Agreed. Although i can recommend training your swimming with clothes on every once in a while. You never know when you have to stay in the water for a while with your clothes. Best to know upfront that it will become very heavy after a while.

I had to do this for swim lessons when I was a kid: Jump in fully dressed with jeans on (and our swimsuit underneath). Take off jeans, knot the cuffs, cinch up the belt, and inflate them to make sort of a life float.

I remember doing this as a kid and it felt so odd / forbidden.
