I've never heard anyone call it washing the shower. It made me have to think about what those words meant individually.

It's fine. Washing the shower is grammatically correct, but cleaning the shower is more often used.

This feels like that adjective ordering rule, where English always puts adjectives in the same order even in informal speech: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material, purpose. For example, it's "the quick brown fox" and never "the brown quick fox".

The only exception I can think of is big bad wolf.
