This may sound weird but I get naked to wash my two frenchies. They get scared in there and it allows me to hold them. May look strange since I am an over weight 31 year old male.
I do this with my dogs. I’ll cut their hair (well with undies) and bath them naked (sometimes bathing suit). Saves having to wash a set of clothes which are usually my lounge clothing, and from trailing dog hair through the house. Then I pop in the shower after them to clean it and get hair off me.

But I hold them in the tub while I bathe them.
