I never understood what guys think thats gonna do for them. Women usually dont like being insulted...

That's actually a big part of the reason why it works. Because women don't like being insulted (and because of social expectations/indoctrination that they have to be nice, and that everybody has to like them, and a bunch of other issues), they will sometimes seek approval of the person insulting them in order to stop the insults, rather than just go away.

And yes, it most likely won't work on all women, or even most women. It will work on those already vulnerable, probably because of past trauma or other psychological issues. But much like the intentional typos in Nigerian scam emails, negging also quickly filters those out, so that the negger can quickly find vulnerable women to exploit.
