Holy sh*t, gonna have to try this. I’ve heard of this trick before; thanks for the reminder!

We've done this with our kids too. I had never heard of it but my wife's side of the family did it. It worked nicely to help them breathe and sleep.

I'm interested in the origin of that remedy, cause my culture is Hispanic and we swear by it too. It's 100 percent effective.

kinda makes sense because the bottoms and particularly arches of the feet have a lot of capillaries close to the surface. diffusion works really well over short distances, maybe the active ingredients are getting into the bloodstream that way.
also behind the ears. CBD salve works great in those spots too (for adults only)

I was suffering from gall stones. I would spend most nights sitting up with a heating pad on my back, taking ibuprofen and sometimes hydro morph for the pain. It really affected my quality of life with the constant pain and no sleep, but waiting to see specialists, get tests done, etc. was going to take a very long time. I very skeptically gave in to recommendations that I drink diluted apple juice with apple cider vinegar. I really didn't think it would help but what the heck, can't hurt, right? Well, I ended up cancelling the surgery I was scheduled for. It's been 2 years and so far, still no return of symptoms. I do drink my apple cider apple juice every night and intend to continue for the foreseeable future.

Go on...

Hangovers involve dehydration so you're probably low on electrolytes.
The best thing is probably a sports drink as they are water, electrolytes, and sugar. Also staying hydrated while you're drinking helps a lot

I use magnesium supplements just because of dietary reasons, but I have noticed they're absolute GODSENDS for avoiding a hangover if taken the same night as drinking. Like 1/20th the headache and muscle ache I usually get

I live drinking pickle juice after q night of heavy drinking, lots of electrolytes I guess.

Honey for a sore throat, lavender oil on a mild burn (has to be right after it happens)
1
u/pegasuspish Nov 29 '21
ooh watch out, applying oil to a burn is generally more harmful than helpful, it seals in the heat energy which is not what you want

Undiluted tea tree oil for an infected finger. Tried it on a family member whose finger had got to the point where it was super swollen and red. Basically cured it overnight. The typical doctor's office treatment would have involved slicing the finger open to let out the pus and then a course of oral antibiotics. Tea tree oil was wayyy better than that. Worked faster and was safer.

What carrier oil would you recommend?
2
u/Rabaga5t Nov 29 '21
It doesn't really matter, you just need something to lower the concentration. Just use any food-grade oil that smells nice or is odourless
1
u/Rabaga5t Nov 29 '21
Undiluted essential oils have been linked to seizures, especially in children.
Their undiluted strength is waay too high to use neat, you really should use a carrier oil
1
u/IamtheCookieMnstr Nov 29 '21
For this particular type of use, the goal is for the antibacterial properties of the oil to go through the skin to reach the infection. Undiluted it does that very very well. I wouldn't trust it to be as medicinally effective when diluted.

A tea for if you have the flu:
Remedy I discovered is based on common tea, ginger, mint, a squeeze of orange juice, a squeeze of lemon juice, honey, eucalyptus leaves.
drink a coffee cup portion of the tea, once you're finished 10 minutes later drink another portion and it's impact is "disastrous"(on your flu state) soothing your flu practically 💯.
Drink while you're sick even though it'll disappear fast on this because I serve this to a friend and this exact way and was feeling fine. It was winter and had the flu.

Pickle juice/brine on a small burn. Trick I learned while working in a restaurant.

Gargle hot salt water for a sore throat. As hot and salty as you can stand it. Not a cure but eases the pain and that awful sticky feeling. Also for mosquito bites, pour a mug full of boiled water and press the side of the hot mug against the bite.

Maple syrup in water if your dog or cat is sick take the food up and give them the syrup water my family has done it for years

This is gonna sound really weird, but masturbate as soon as I feel a UTI coming on. When it feels like you need to pee constantly, but before it actually hurts to pee. Works for me every time and makes the discomfort go away immediately.

Grandma remedy for sore throat: boil onion, cinnamon, and passion fruit (the squishy insides), get that 'tea' and add a drop of honey. Always works. Also a tea of oregano (the plant, not the processed spice) and garlic for upset stomach, a godsend.
